So my dads mom basicly gave him her car when she decided it wasn't wise for her to drive anymore. its a 98 olds cutlass with only like 20,000 on it.

Some of you may have heard me bitching in the past about my alcoholic mother who also happens to basically be insane while drinking. well, my dad was in tampa on buisness last week and my mom got really drunk and started fighting with me. I threw out all her boos and disabled my celica, their '03 grand prix, but my gf was borrowing the Olds at the time for work, and she didn't get back till 6"00am so i was sleeping. (this is all last tuesday, the 22nd.)

Her and i woke up around 1:30 pm, cause we had both been up late. i went down stairs and discovered that the Olds was gone. i was really quite pissed to say the least, its been my job in this family to keep her from driving drunk for damn near 10 years now. so i went looking for her.

Around 2:30 i got pulled over going 80 in a 55 while searching for her, i don't normally speed that bad but... so anyway the cop asks for my liscense and as soon as she sees it she tells me my mom is in jail for causing an accident with another car and then blowing a MOTHER F$$%ING .38 %!!!!!!!!!

lighter side is that the cop new my family and what i had been threw dealing with my mom before, so she let me go... good thing. i spent the next few days having the car towed home and bailing her out of jail. now i am on my way outside to dismantel the car and decide if it is even worth saving. DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE.

That sucks. Has your mom ever tried to get help? My dad used to drink a lot, then when he realized it would kill him he started to stop. His drinking problem is what caused my parents to get divorced.

He used to drink a 12 pack a day (or atleast it seemed like it) he now has 1 or 2 only on special occasions. He says that he is so much happier with his bad habit now gone.

Your mom sounds like she need some help. It would help her and your whole family. I'm sure there would be less fights and less problems within the family.

On another note it's kind of weird. Your mom is the parent and she should be taking care of you, but instead you are taking care of her.

Well, good luck with the future. Sorry this happened. You should really talk to her about help and maybe things will be better!

My car is gunna be 10x faster than yours...haha... I'm gunna buy like 10
of those speedchips! I figure if 1 gets me 20hp then 10 will get me 200hp!

AA would be wise - obviously whatever remedy you're trying now isn't working... the sooner she acts, the better her chance of avoiding liver cirrhosis and a host of other maladies

we have been trying for years, interventions do work, and my dad just gives up cause he doesn't want to fight with her. as shitty as an accident is, and a dui, the state is making her get help now its a good thing. she has to take three breathalyzers a day on this device that dials up some computer down town. has voice recognition and crap. if she even has a little biit of alcohol in her system she goes back to jail. and the biggest plus, we didn't have to pay bail as long as she follows this program, so its working out ok. and my gf's dad and his partner just came over from their body shop and looked at the car after i pulled the front bumper and fenders. they said they wouldn't charge me labor (he is an ex alcoholic as well, and knows how it is) and we will just have to pay for parts. its working out ok, it just sucks in general.

Damn man, hope things work out with your mom. It's cool that the cop let you off because of all that happened though, 80 in a 55 would've been pretty steep. Keep tryin' to help, don't give up.

Hopefully your Mom will dry out with the breathalizer tests, but your going to have to keep her motivated not to drink. You seem to be handling it well, and it looks like the cops and your friends are backing you up. Maybe this will work out for the best, in the long run. You have my respect for hanging in there during a long run of bad times. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and its, daylight, not a train. Good luck!!

Sorry to hear about yer mom's probs. Hope everything works out.

Both my Cuzin & Uncle were cops. They both have told me stories of drunks that were driving at 0.35 or higher.

The uncle even told me about one guy that he pulled over for failing to signal for a turn who was functioning at nearly normal but blew a 0.42!! eek I think I read somewhere that sumthin' like 0.45 was lethal!

frown That is so sad that you have had to do this for a good portion of your life. I know what your going through, my grandpa has been drinking a lot. My dad has been flying out to Cali to help my grandma, but they decided it was best for him to just be put in a nursing home. I hope everything works out and you guys can get her some help.
