Define a good price... You will need an amplifier to run subs. If you're looking for cost efectiveness, I wouldn't suggest replacing the interior speakers. However, if you're like me and want above average sound quality, it will make a big difference.

I am by no means an expert with stereo systems, I was planning on piggy backing either two 10" or 2 12" subs with a 4-600 watt amp in my wife's car, leaving her stock amp to power the "stock" speakers(the rears are not stock but I dont know what they are). I believe their are aftermarket amps that have either a 'bass control' or volume control on them which will help you increase the sound level of the subs, while your stock deck can decrease the 'stock' speakers so they wont rattle... Good luck! BTW...amp I was lookin at was a sony I think it was near 200$ and the 2 subs were 10" and $84 a piece.

would these subwoofers fit in a custom box that has one cubic foot of airspace per sub?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3030617859&category=14945&rd=1

also...would this amp be ok with these subs?

ok...just want to make sure you know that I am still no expert with car stereo systems...!

with the boxes, and 10" speaker should be fine to run in them

with the AMP, I am fairly certain that most vehicle speakers run on 4ohmz and these were your choices...

Output 4 Ohms: 90W x 2
Output 2 Ohms: 180W x 2

which would be 90watts to each of your 2 speakers, personally and i must say again I AM NO EXPERT! but for sound quality and loudness I wouldnt put less than 150watts to each speaker.

90watts to each speaker _will_ work though
Im sure you can find a better deal than that somewhere, I was lookin at best buy and for like 150-175 they had 3-400 watt amps by 2 channels to put atleast 150 watts to each speaker

i'm not an expert either, but the impedance (ohms) has to do with resistance. your amp will work at the ohms depending on what subs you use(sold in diff. ohms). four ohm subs are wired stereo, 8 ohm subs bridged, dvc's (depending on the voice coils impedance)can be wired two ohm stereo or bridged. maybe someone else can explain betta grin. i personally go with dvc's or 8 ohm subs.

Thanks for clearing that up! Why dvc's(2ohm)?

np, its kinda hard for me to explain srry, i dont know too much on this stuff frown. but i go dvc's because i pump a lot of watts thru my subs (not in celica though lol ). my rockford dvc's(12's) can handle 1000 rms , 2000 peak watts a sub. i also like to wire the dvc's two ohm stereo (must have an amp that is two ohm stable). dvc's just allow you to wire them two diff ways. a lot of peeps go for bridged though, just personal preference.in the amp you were talking about, four ohm stereo only produces 90 watts a channel, where as under two ohm stereo it produces 180 watts a channel. i didnt click on the links because i'm about to go see a movie, but that amp most likely bridges down to 360 watts.

maybe someone else can help us who knows the specifics grin thumbsup.

that setup will work fine together i workd in car audio for 4 yrs and in the celi it will be good

i mean you won't see 150db but will bump good

also i'm not sure how the gt speakers are but the gts's are not to bad i have mine (stock) amped to a xtant 400.4 amp and they love it the way i see it i'll run them till they blow but they won't cause i don't run low frequency thru them and i don't slam them with power but they sound very good... and as far as ohms like said above must keep in mind amp too whether or not can handle low ohms ...1 or 2 ohm stable but honestly the type r alpines and the jbl amp should be good if ur at all concernd then get a lil bigger amp
those type r will take some power so don't be afraid
