I finally have enough money to start modding my and I want to do it right so I'm coming to the experts. There are a few things that I know I want to do, but I need advice that will effect future mods. I know I want to get the Veilside EC-I kit, but first I want to get some rims. Should I go with 17" or 18" and what size tires? Also I am interested in lowering the car, but not too much. I live around a lot of speed bumps so what are some good springs and how low is too low for speedbumps? Finally if I plan on having a paint job that is either primarily white or a light blue what is a good color for the rims? I appreciate any and all info.

17" is too small for the Celica IMO unless you want to auto-x or something like that. 18" is a perfect size for the Celica and that is what I would get. For tires, you should probably go with 225/40/18 since they aren't too thin and not too thick and is what a lot of people go for. Since you plan on getting the Veilside kit, which is very low, you should drop it no more than 2". Eibach Sportlines are good for that and so are Tanabe Sustec DF210's. For less of a drop, Eibach Pro-kit or Tanabe GF210 are good which drop about 1.5" or a little less. For a white car or light blue, white or gun-metal rims would go well IMO.

what kind of celica do you have, and are you interested in show or go, or both?
I get my kicks on EC.

I appreciate any and all info. are you the girl that we met at northridge meet? well anyways, it all depends on how you want it. if you want to go with show, get 18's with 225/40/18 tires, but it will cost you more for the tires. With 18's you can go with TRD springs or eibach, they are perfect for 18's and 18's will have little bit bumpier ride if you want to go show/go, go with 17's, its more durable and tires are cheaper than 18's and you can lower it how much as you want, such as hotchkis, tein, eibach and etc. But if you are going with Veilside kit, i would go with 18's since the veilside kits drops your car pretty low. And 18's with 1' drop will be perfect, ask Marco from Pacific forum, he has veilside kit with 18's If you are going with white, get white rims, they look very clean with white car. if you are going with blue, get black hope this answers your question

For a nice flush look, go with 18's and hotckis springs!!

well i had the choice of ec-1 kit with wing and ff gt hood or rims with ec-1 kit and no hood or spoiler. since i got the GTS rims i decided the kit would be a better investment. Im not saying i will ride on them for a while but why switch out rims first if you already have a decent set?

For now I am mainly concerned with go, but in the future I would love to have a show worthy car. If I go with 18" what are the disadvantages for everyday use? I dont drive very far <20 miles on any given day. What is the average mileage I can get on a good set of 225/40/18 wheels.

It depends if you want more show or go or vice versa. I'd say 17"s for Performance or 18" for show.
As for springs well you can get away with having just a 1" drop without it wearing your shocks too aggressively for some time, but the best idea is to get new shocks/struts and springs all at once, Eibach has a Pro System kit that includes shocks + springs and does about a 1.3" drop, which is pretty good height. A more affordable kit is from Tokico and gives about a 1" or maybe a bit more of a drop.
