some cali tracks require helmets if you meet certain criteria so I might have to buy one soon. I saw the sparcos for $600 to $700! is there any helmet that's safety approved but cheap? thanks...

Check out jegs.com do a search for helmets. They have true race helmets for drag and circuit racing and they are like 200 bucks. Don't know if that's too expensive though.

thanks guys, I like the Bell RS-5 on jegs.com for only about $200. It looks just like the sparco.
I get my kicks on EC.

actually, the race tracks are only supposed to require that you wear a helmet if your car is going to be racing 12s or lower, and then a roll cage at -10s; atleast that's the way it is at Moroso Speedway down here in Florida

Cali Speedway is 13.99 or faster you need a helmet and 11.99 or faster you need a roll cage. I already have the roll cage for safety and I'm planning on driving on the street with a carbon fiber body in a year so the cage will be nice for street safety with no shell. with regard to the 13.99 or faster helmet rule, I'm serious about that. It shouldn't be long anyways till 2zz (or 3zz) celicas here start hitting 12s especially with a good driver on nitrous.
I get my kicks on EC.

i autoX my car which requires a helmet to be better then a M95 Snell rating. However pretty much any helmet sold now will be M2000. The helmet i use is a HJC CS-5 which i got for $100 CAD. it is an open face helmet... hope that help... they can be a lil hard to find, in canada anyway.
