Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior How to best bolt down sub box...

Okay, i've had 2 infinity 12" subs for about 6 months now, and they have been in a sealed box in my trunk just sliding around. I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE. I need to bolt down the box, so i went to home depot and bought some metal 'L' connectors. Now, the only thing stopping me from bolting the sub box down is the fear of me popping a tire and not being able to reach the spare tire. Does anyone have any suggestions on how i can bolt my box down? I can't have it slide around anymore!

Mine are bolted down exactly that way- in a pinch you lift the ENTIRE sub box out with the carpeting and cardboard attached- use the car jack inside your trunk if need be

just screw it to the thing that covers the spare... and keep a screwdriver in your car ...

move the box onto your rear seats (fold them down)...or put your back seats down, put part of your box on that, and put the tire up against the back of the box, and bolt that damn thing in...either that or put your spare behind your passenger side seat with a towel under it so you don't get the upholstery dirty (leave the rear seats up)...PM me if you want me to come over and help you when you figure it out

.. I second the screwdriver notion. I actually keep one in my car, so I didn't think of recommending it But yeah, just keep a screwdriver handy- I take mine out all the time.

I thought sub boxes normally dont need to be attached. Anyway couldnt you just use some velcro from a arts and crafts store? should be really easy to put in. Just stick a few strips to the bottom.

I've always kept a flat head, phillips head (sp), a monkey wrench, and a ratchet in my car, so thats good...but im gonan see if i can bolt it all down to that wooden thing covering my spare...if not then i'll just give azzkikr a call

velcro won't hold his box...its friggin huge!!!!

pics? well i dont know, if it is that big i thought the weight added with the velcro should be enough...

lol, jesus yeah! no velcro! It wont even hold my toll road transmitter in place!

Bolt it down to the cover of the sub box, and then unscrew the sub boxes from the L brackets when you need to take the spare out- NEVER UNSCREW THE SCREWS THAT ARE ATTACHED TO THE CARPET/SPARE COVER

they're such a FRIGIGN PAIN to put back in.

just get one of those nets that they offer for suv for example. i'm using my wife's and it works pretty good, you already have 4 hooks in the trucnk so just attach the net tight and enjoy. easy fix no drilling or material needed.

that's what i did, but i actually put little pieces of plywood in place behind where i screwed in to give it more security, and i don't need the extra screw driver
