Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior Upgrade for T-Sport Celica UK Spec (help needed)!

I'm from N. Ireland in the UK and I have recently bought a 2003 toyota celica T-Sport 190bhp (UK spec of course) and wanted to do a few things to it but am unsure of what I should do and what I should add to my car (hopefully you can help with this). I wanted to put the following things in but i'm unsure if these parts either come for this model or which make of parts I should choose. I want to put a induction kit, split-fire spark plugs, power boost valve, short shifter and maybe a few more things if you would be good enough to recommend me some and let me know what they do. I'm not actually sure what name my T-Sport goes under because when I go into some sites it comes up with some funny model numbers rather than just the model itself (probably everyone else knows but i'm in the dark on this one). My car already came with sports suspension kit, Performance twin exhaust system, and full bodykit. Any and all advise will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

forget the plugs (stick with iridiums), wtf is a power boost valve?

if you want real gains, start with Intake and exhaust and header. then look into engine management such as power fc, get some supsension/tire upgrades/ light weight rims and you'll be good to go

I had to look this one up. Power boost valve replaces the stock valves in your engine. Mostly, it gives the car better acceleration by increasing the fuel pressure. I guess its the new craze in Europe because every site that popped up was from the UK. Haven't heard too much about it in the United States.

I second Lucky_317. Start with a CAI or if not at least get a Performance air filter. Exhuast and some lightweight headers. Thing to remember is weight reduction . Aftermarkets are almost always less weight. The miracles of Carbon Fiber!

BTW, only iridiums will work in Celicas. Check your manual if you don't believe me.

Hey man I need you VIN #. That is the only way that I can get the Toyota dealership to order the body kit that comes with your car...SO CLEAN! Plus, I want your shift knob. So if you wanna let me know your Vin#...COOL! If not...I don't understand...but I will live with it! PM me when you decide!

Thanks for the advice you've givin me so far. So i've got the Performance exhuast already but now i need to buy a good induction kit to take care of the Intake side of things, any recommendations and do you know if they are suitable for my uk spec t-sport?

Just seen toyota celica st202/205 and toyota celica zzt230/231, Now i'm really confused, which of these does my uk spec celica t-sport come under or is it something else completly?

Look, te Toyota dealership has acess to all the T-Sport parts/accesories. They cannot access the Euro/JDM database without a valid Euro/JDM Vin#. Why is this so hard to understand? I want a t-sport shift knob. I am trying to do a total conversion to the T-sport celica. WHAT ELSE DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET IT THROUGH!!!!

You won't find a power boost valve because your Celica has variable valve timing. You don't want to fuck about with that shit. If you're after an Intake and maybe an exhaust upgrade browse around nemesisperformance.net.

Oh, also, the gearchange is short enough on the T Sport. I wouldn't waste your money changing it to be honest. When your car goes in for servicing you'll have to take your Intake and exhaust off because they'll void your warranty. Imagine how much hassle its gonna be to revert back to the old shifter all the time!

The valve functions like a choke function on a lawnmower for instance, by increasing the fuel slightly it combusts faster which can lead to better acceleration, then once going it evens back out to a normal stoich ratio, IMO this won't cause any real damage except maybe a 1mpg loss

adding fuel wont make more power trust me I know i've spent quite some time dyno tuning my celica and other team mates celicas, you'd be just buying a gimik for a n/a celica.

the short shiffter do a lot to the t-sport gear box!!!! (and its not any hassel to shift it back any way)
and i dont fink it will void the warranty wtf can the ss do to the car and well i dunno about the exhuast but then buy a trd so it dont void the warrent, and if your engien get broken i dont fhink its not going on the warrent becuase you have a ss or exhuast...

you may want to concider the pfc as your next upgrade.

and no you dont have to. the stock fuel system is good for more fuel than any n/a 2zz i've seen needs.

Why was I not allowed to post for 24 hours. I was going to say that the T Sport has suffered with gearbox problems, mainly due to such a high revving engine. Toyota will use any excuse not to replace it and they wouldn't hesitate to point out that an aftermarket short shifter is against warranty rules. TRD is an American thing. I asked the guy in the servicing department about it and he said Toyota UK would not cover your car with ANY aftermarket Performance parts.

The codes you found refer to different toyota models & engines. Your celica is a 7th generation model in which there are two different engines: 1ZZFE VVTi 140bhp, 2ZZGE VVTLi 190bhp. The UK TSport is equivalent to the GTS in US terms, you might find it referred to as a 'ZT230/231' or simply a '190' on UK sites. Good luch with the mods.. as said above, go for a CAI & short shifter first for instant gains
