Celicas are fast... made for tracks...if you know how to drive... then yep... but reading your posts...I doubt you can drive your celica anywayz...

For elise, yes it's same engine... but totally different ecu... Lift kicks in earlier, port/polish, and smoother hp, torque curves...What makes you say that they are the same Performance after a full tune up that lotus put into it?

Yes, completely new engine management by Lotus. Torque remains at 133lb/ft though, so does power remain at 190bhp. The lack of torque is less noticeable though because of the weight. And yes the power curve is more linear, but theres still the noticeable shove above 6000rpm. The older S2 sport 190 used a highly tuned version of the rover k series engine which had better power delivery throughout the rev range. Unfortunately though didn't have Toyota reliability. WHAT MAKES ME SAY THEY'RE THE SAME Performance? Nothing. Same power, better Performance. Obviously!

When will you people realise the Celica was not made for the track. Find me some sort of Toyota publication that states the Celica was designed and built for track use and I'll eat my hat.

veilside...i agree with you. the celica is not MADE for the track. it's a comprimise sports coupe...what i mean by comprimise is that first of all...it's a 2+2 configuration...any car that has back seats is not a Performance oriented only car. it compromises sporty Performance with everyday grocery getter uses. that's why it sells...for the practicallity and compromise from sports to everyday driving. so in effect, yes...it is not MADE for the track

we are arguing that you can MOD the freakin thing in order to COMPETE on a track...so in this case, MAKING it a track car.

then there are manufacturers who build their cars that are almost track ready...which sport tuned shit, but that still doesn't mean it's a track car.

I love my celica, i want that to be known. stock it had 6.6 0-60 time (car and driver), but with the new crop of fast cars like the srt-4, rsx-s, and the new colbolt ss (chevy supercharged remade caviler) it seems like the celica is just over matched. and all these cars handle as good as the celica, just go a lot faster. When the celica came out in 2000 it was designed to beat the honda prelude. which it does, now the rsx is designed to beat the celica. When i started this post i was pissed about my last night of racing. I had no idea that so many poeple would take it personly. i love my celica and a good sprited drive through the country yesterday helped me to remember that. It is not the fastest 4 banger on the road, but it is the most fun to drive. however it is sad to see what has happened to this message board. There was a time when people where positive about others, but to look back through this post and the negitivity that is in it is just sad.

Woah Woah WOah. Don't sign off yet. What one of these cars out handles the celica? Or comes even close? The Chevy colbalt is SLOW!!! Yes the SRT-4 is faster...IT IS Turbo'D! Furthermore, it handles like SHIT! Oh, and the RSX-S...BAH! I sure as hell haven't lost to one yet. And the celica handles better than it anyday.

i fhink its to slow for it looks on the straigths but in my case that is a good fhink becuase if not i cuddent afford it. and even if its slow for it looks way is it slow you will own a lot of cars with a gts here i live i wudd have owned every one and is the rsx-s faster than the gts i have heard they are equale. if its slow for you Turbo it and if you dont can afford it then its good in your case its slow to.
