just transfer ownership to your parents and have them register, but that would mean they would be taking on risk of being sued if you ever messed up and did something. So it's up to them. Assuming your parents are a lot older and married and have no accidents or violations on record, it'll be a lot cheaper...and just be sure the bill gets paid by someone whoever it's addressed to.

better off taking the defensive driving class if you have one... Get a passive alarm which will lower it %15.. All i can really think of.. Also state farm Insurance has the 'Steer clear' program for people like under 18 then 18-24

that's only %15. A married older person's insurance rate with no accidents or violations could be as low as $100/mo.

Ownership has NOTHING to do with it.
If there are as many vehicles in the household as drivers, each driver has to be the primary insured on a minimum of one vehicle. Your options are either:
1) have yourself rated on the cheapest, slowest car you guys own.
2) (this is slightly crooked): get 1 car insured with company A. Go to company B and insure the rest of your cars. Then company B won't know there are as many cars as drivers. You can then be rated occasional usage on one car.
Other than that... check into good-student discounts. Raise your collision deductible to $500. See if you can take a drivers-safety class for inexperienced drivers to reduce the rate.

better yet: Don't get into accidents, don't get tickets, don't sign on as primary driver, don't get your own insurance until your 22.
Do drivers school, do driving course from state, get everything that can possibly lower cost of insurance I.E daytime lights, passive alarms etc..

Transfer it to your parents, dude...Thats all you need to do!...But when you do, you have to be careful when you drive being as not to get any traffic tickets or any accidents. In other words you have to be a responsible driver!... But with all this you'll be paying less for your insurance!...

i pay very 'cheap' insurance of $225 a month..that with no wrecks/no tickets and NOT the primary driver. but thats living in new orleans...if the policy were in my name i'd be paying $500 easy a month.

When I was 24, my insurance was $165 a month for public liability & when I turned 25 it dropped to $35 a month.

In October, i'm a three year driver with no tickets or accidents, so my insurance goes down a bit. Still real expensive when you're 19 and the primary driver and owner of a Celica GT.
