I put 18s on my car and lowered it (trd) but I realized Im not gonna be able to put my stock wheels back on cause my car will lower that much more, and I had enough getting stuck last year w/stock rims/tires... Does anyone ride around on their 18's in the SNOW???? If so how to you prevent damage from salt and whatnot??? whip them off constantly

get some steelies with snow tires on them.
That's what I did, eventually I just decided to move away from the snow altogether.

^^^ Nate the cheapest place i found them were $42 a peice Also, Sara you wouldn't be that much lower with your stock wheels on it. What size did you go with, 225/40/18??? because with your stock wheels and tires you will be very close to the same height

Wheels aren't what sucks in the winter, it Performance tires that suck. I put snow tires on some cheap steel wheels that i bought and the celi didn't do bad. Driving on Performance tires in winter = bad, not driving on stock wheels

how much did you lower it? if you decide to keep the 18's over the winter, just take it to a manual car wash and wash it often...

Going from 18's back to 15's or 16's on a lowered car shouldn't be a problem.
I thought the only major change was the circumference of the tire, not the height. With a smaller rim, you would get more rubber, and with a larger rim, you would have less rubber. Shouldn't the proportion between the height of the two tires not be severely drastic?

Yes you are correct, there shouldn't be that much of a difference in ride height from here 18's to her stock wheels

do not get tire cables or chains. i tried that for my stock 16" ones. my car is lowered two inches and no way in hell could i get them on without taking the wheel off. and of course you wouldn't be riding 'round with steel on unless there was like three inches of snow. so, you'd keep 'em in your trunk. useless...
i have 17" rims and my front bumper is always like an inch or less from hitting steeper street inclines, and navigating the alley to my building's parking lot in the rear missing bumps, potholes, and the like.
don't know, when i kick the 16" back on i also fear of ruining the front end. and i have 17" while you have 18" good luck...

its only gonne be 1 to 1.5" difference. But thats ALOT in the snow. I got stuck in my driveway last year Sara, the ride height you have now with the 18's will be just about the same as your stock wheels. When you buy bigger wheels (your 18's) you get a smaller sidewall tire, which with come very close to matching your stock wheels/tires. So whether you are rolling on your 18's or your stock wheels and tires your ride height will be very close to the same, there should not be a 1" to 1.5" difference more like a 1/4" difference if that. So are are you thinking that since you are going from the 18's to the stock wheels you are going to lower your car even more?? Or are you asking what you should do now since you lowered your car???

So are are you thinking that since you are going from the 18's to the stock wheels you are going to lower your car even more?? Or are you asking what you should do now since you lowered your car??? Ive already lowered my car and I have 18"s. Should I put my stock wheels back on for the snow? wont that lower my car more? I lowered my car when I put 18s on it. So when I put my stock wheels back on wont my car be lower than it is with 18's. Right Cause if I had stock wheels and lowered it...then added 18's my car would go higher... That make sense So if thats true then I cant put my stock wheels back on because my car with "lower more" than it is now and since I had trouble lastyear BEFORE i pt suspension on my car Im gonna be that much more screwed...right?

No Sara, when you buy different Size wheels you also get different size of tires. The resoning for this is to try and match what was stock. You aftermarket tire and wheel combo will be almost the same height as your stock tire wheel combo. Unless you went crazy with like a 24" wheel or something. What do you have now, i am guessing probbly like a 225/35/18????

I went from 215/50/16 to 225/40/18 when I put 18's on my stock suspension my car looked retarted. So I lowered my car with TRD suspension and then the 18"s looked stock.

Yes it did look weird, but trust me you will be alright The second number is the sidewall height, see you went down from a wait, what wheels did you have on your car before because that is not a stock size??????????? I thought you owned a GT??? What wheels did you have on there before???
