Okay everyone... I'm pretty sure most of you know what happened to me. I still don't know if/when the car will be repaired, but I've already decided that I won't be keeping it either way. Mainly because I'm sick of automatic, but also because I don't want a car with 70% new body panels and a repaired frame. I've made the decision to sell the car private party if/when it's back.
I'm having a hard time finding another red '04 GTS with the old action package and options I want. Now I'm leaning heavily toward the Mazdaspeed Miata. It has a six-speed, 178 HP, 166lbs of torque (36 more than our car!), RWD, and weighs the same as a GTS. I love the styling, the Racing Hart wheels it has, and the awesome metal-flake red paint. My father's company has a partnership deal with Mazda, so we could probably get one in the low 20's (21-22k).
I'm just not sure though. There is no after market yet for this car (may never be, it's limited edition). Plus, I've got soft and grown accustom to the roof and back seat our Celi has. I could just go with a manual GTS and add a body kit later...
What does everyone honestly think? I know this is a Celica site, but some I'm still interested to see the feedback. Please no "Miata's are a girls car" comments, because I've loved the cars since I was 15, and that isn't going to change. My main plans for either car would be some speed mods and trips to the 1/4 track, but also one or two autox events.
Just want to see what you'd do in my position. And sorry everyone, I'll be staying on the site whether I get another Celica or not.

Sorry to say, but the very dim level of aftermarket is going to completely die after 2005. It'll be tC this, and tC that.
I'm leaving the Toyota ship with my next car purchase, I don't like the direction the company is headed, nor what they are doing with their line up of cars.
To have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation To know even one life has breathed easier This is to have succeeded.
I'd get an S2k or a WRX. Depends on what you are looking for though. S2k would be a nice straight line car, and a decent autox car. WRX would be a great straigt line car with a lot of mod potential, and you could go off road in em.

I thought about the S2k very seriously. I nearly swapped the Celi for one back in June. The problem is, in the end, I don't want a used car... and I don't want to dip into savings or have more than 3-4k financed while I'm in school.

tough predicament man, im driving my celica untill it dies, then im gonna get an SRT-4 because my dad works for chrysler and i can get a 5 grand discount lol.
since you've wanted a miata ever since and it is a limited edition that be a nice way to go
I just wonder about the safety factor though on those I mean think of it this way if you were in the miata in the same accident...
Actually, my first car was a '94 Miata. I loved the thing, but thought it was time to move on to a new car... so I got the Celi. I crashed that Miata into a tree at 40MPH and I was fine, as was the car. Only had around $2700 worth of damage somehow. I'm not so worried about the safety factor.
Yup, either way I'll stay on the boards. No way I'll find a miata site with so many great people.

I don't think Mazda is the answer. There are lots of cars in the GTS price range to choose from. Go to every lot & test drive each one and decide for yourself.
That mazda, that isn't stock is it? Because regular miadas are dead slow, I smoked one in my Corolla.

Mazdaspeeds are Turbocharged.

it's weird, once you have a convertible, you wanna get in one again. i'd say get a miata if most of your friends drive, that way you don't have to regret getting a 2-seater. im keeping the Celica although i'd like a convertible simply because of the utility of the celica.
The MR2 is great, but I'm looking for something with some real kick to it. I want something that will give me a chance at 14's stock.
I haven't entirely ruled out a used S2k, but I doubt I'd go with a Z. The biggest thing I can't get over is the idea of going from a new car to a used car... likely with more miles.

i'd say get the miata..miatas are sweet..i was lookin for a miata til my grandma said she dont want me to drive a convertible so she helped me get the celi..miatas are great..you will find aftermarket parts for it just look around..i found a couple while i was researchin the miata..anyways..good luck wit your decision!
mazda speed mitata, mid 90's Turbo RX7, gen 2 eclipse GSX, s2000, R6 or R1 (seriously though...you cant buy a car that can toutch the speed or fun of one of these), mustang cobra, SRT-4
was....5speed with i/h/e 15.41 @ 89.30mph 2.282 60'
If I got in that bad of a crash, I would ditch it ASAP. Get an S2K, it may be a Honda, but those are fast, have RWD, look awesome and already come with an S2K Antenna! Myself, I'm gettin a 350z just before I hit 100k in my Celica.
ok bro, you seem to want a 4 cylinder vehicles. here are ur options: celica gts rsx-s protege miata s2k
--- if insurance is not a factor, i wouldnt think twice and get an s2000. the reason you are thinkin about it and NOT serious about buying an s2000 is probably you never driven one. a friend of mine got an s2000, and whoever drives the car wants to buy an s2000, and 2 ppl already bought 1. as for miles, s2000 is the car you shouldnt really worry about with some miles on it. personally i wouldnt get an s2000 over 30,000-40,000 miles on it. why is used s2000 safer than any other sports car? cz a lot of old ppl also drive it. lots of old ppl drive an s2000, and none of them even rev over 6000rpm. spend some extra money but get something right. i dont hate the miata, but you cant compare it with the s2000's looks or Performance. as for s2000, you can get one for about high 20's. the 00-02 rev upto 9000rpm while the 03- rev upto 8000rpm range with .2L engine bigger. i just saw 2004 s2000 for 27,000$ with 9,000 miles on it. thats the best offer you can find for it. if you not getting an s2000, get gts cause they are gonna be rare, last generation, and they probably look better than miata from most other ppls perspection. good luck!
"You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your f------ khakis. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world."
didnt you see that mad tv episode where those gay guys were riding around in a miata? man u'll be gay dude! naw just kidding. the miata would be nice but its only a two seater and since it is a limited edition, aftermarket support will prolly be less than the celica is getting now
Just get the Miata. Honestly, this is some kind of reach for attention. If you need to be convinced on buying a GTS 6 speed... Just drive one. Actually don't. I really don't care.
dude, im still gonna go with the celica. even though they are gonna stop making them, the 7th gen ones they are making now are bad as hell. its a celica dude. do the right thing buddy.

Dude, what is your problem? I'm torn here and am looking for some advice from everyone, and all of them seem happy to give it except for you. If you have a problem with it or with me, don't read my posts. Is every question on the boards attention whoring to you?

Yea dude!...Go Celica all the way man!...Celica's are tite, I'll be getting mines in super white, I guess by now everyone here at ecelica knows this already!...So I wont say to much!...gets kind of lame lately!...
i like the celicas, but if i had to do it again i might consider a350z. only prob w/ it is it only has 2 seats. not sure if that matters to you or not 'cause you are thinking of a miata.
How about a G35 Sport Coupe? Those are pretty pricey though ($33,000 I think). My next car will definitely be a luxury sport car. But, if you had to choose between a Celica and Miata, I would go with the Celica.
I will vote for the Celica. I was in the same spot. Moving from an Auto GT and purchased a 6 Speed GTS. Prolly the best purchase that I could have made. I was thinking of going more and etc. but man, I love the Celica.
It is really up to you tho. If you are sick with the style and etc. then of course get something else. The Miata is a good choice if not the Celica.
hey man, if you need to be convinced on getting a celica, chances are your not gonna be happy if you get one. go with what you feel more comfortable with whether it be a miata or an ...rsx-s...
forget the celica, you had one already. RSX-S would be the samething. mazdaspeed miata will have the option for Turbo upgrade down the road (they should), and the lovely BV sound.
by the way, why are people keep bring up cars that cost over $30000??? not everybody can get a $30000 car just like that...
