which would you buy? I found 36 square foot of xtreme dynamat for about $100 and i also found 100 square foot of fatmat for the same price. which would you buy? havent heard as much about fatmat as i have dynamat. Im pretty sure 100 square foot would be way too much but just let me know what you all think.
well you do not need to cover your whole car...inside the door panels and in the rear hatch is a good place--and anywhere else you hear rattles coming from.
normall just the trunk is 'dynamatted'...but the celica has a couple of tsb's (technical service bulletins) about rattles in the doors...which is why its a good idea in the celicas case to dynamat the doors--or to look up the tsb's and fix them they way they describe--either way is not particularly 'fun'.
to view the tsbs, click on 'tech info' at the top of the page and look for the 'tsb' section (you will need adobe acrobat reader)
Make sure you get the doors. I upped the bass frequencies on my stock system and the doors began rattling. Also, liscence plate needs matting. Hatch window sometimes rattles, get the sticky black stoppers you find on cabinet doors and use those. Check TSBs for more info.
Good luck

I would get fatmat. I bought the bulk pack of dynamat extreme and it doesnt cover as much as i wanted. Only the back trunk area. Fatmat is the same thing without the name brand and you can get much more for your money.
they are basically the exact same thing...ur not gonna know any difference. But if ur looking to do the whole car. and have an easy project just STOP NOW. This is a good 5-6 hour job. Tearing 3/4 of the interior out to do it
Its not that hard to dynamat your entire car and rip out all the interior it is just very time cunsuming and tideous (sp.?). Also i wouldn't pay 100 dollars for a trunk install. I did my trunk in about 1 1/2 hours. You have to remove the two side panels, rear panel, and the bin behind the seats. Very easy to do

a way to get around the license plate rattling is to purchase a license plate frame that has 4 screws (instead of the usual 2 screws at the top). trd makes one of these 4-screw frames, for example.
also, you can use rubber washers in between the plate and the scew.
also, if you like a two-screw frame more than any 4-screw frame (and don't want to drill) you can glue those little circular pads on each side of the bottom of the plate and frame..you can get a bag of them at wal-mart, home depot, or lowes for under a buck
FATMAT. That's what I used and don't have any complaints. It comes with a de-greaser,utility knife and roller. Dynamat doesn't and it's twice as expensive. I did my whole trunk with the trunk kit from fatmat. Only complaint was a little lengthy shipping. Like 2.5 weeks!!!!
