My keyless entry will not work. The power locks work fine using the switch inside the car but the keyless entry remote does not do anything. Anyone have this problem or suggestions on how to fix it?

^^ is that using ur factory alarm?

my factory alarm does not come with keyless entry..it's just an on/off for the factory alarm.

obviously if your keyless entry has worked BEFORE though, then there is a problem. just saying that if you just bought your car..it doesnt come with keyless entry (at least on the earlier model years)

it's a 2000 gts, i just bought it and assumed it had keyless entry. It has the little receiver in the front driver's side of the dash. How can i tell if it has it?

oh also i took it to the dealer to have it programmed so they would have noticed if it didn't have a keyless entry system right?

2000 GTS and I have keyless entry. Simple look to see if you have an unlock button on the pad.

I have a feeling it's just broken take it to the dealer and ask them?

I know this might sound goofy but it could be the battery in the key chain...happened to me...the LED would still blink but when I tested the battery is was well under the specified voltage on the battery.

Battery prolly. If not, I used the valet button to disable my alarm then enabled it again with the remote. It works again. Only with aftermarket alarm on 2004 Celica installed by Toyota. Play with it til you get it working.

toyota dealers rip out third party keyless remotes i.e python. they gave me the remotes and all but then i crawled under to look behind the reciever and its just the reciever with the wires ripped out the back, so you might want to check.

if your remote arms and disarms you alarm then obviously it isnt a problem with the battery.

most likely, if all it says is 'arm' and 'disarm' it's just an alarm remote and you'll have to purchase a keyless entry kit from a shop

That receiver is actually a sensor for the "auto on lights."

Mine is not working now also. No beeps or anything, but I do have a few blown fuses that I have to check. That could be it, but there is no fuse that is technically designated to the remote keyless entry itself.

it's not the battery, i checked that. so the little dome deal in the dash up by the windshield on the driver's side is a sensor for the auto lights? Where is the actual control unit for the keyless entry, not the receiver but the control unit?

Yep, it's the light sensor. Cover it up for like 20 seconds and see.

Like Diablo said, the control unit is under the steering wheel and towards the driver side of the car.

i had this problem before too bro. i thought my celica came with keyless entry and it didnt. So i had to purchase a aftermarket keyless entry system with alarm! Cost me 200 for it and it came with install. All it is, Arm and Disarm. Press Disarm twice and it unlocks all doors. Cause i know some of the earlier models of 2000 GTS's didnt come with keyless entry.I was disappointed to find out my car didnt come with keyless entry. ANyways i got a alarm/keyless entry thats better then the toyota keyless entry thingie. From what i was told too that your brain of the keyless entry system should be under your steering wheel column, thats what i heard. Good luck!
