just like the topic says... i'm getting new rotors and pads soon, should i get drilled or slotted? anyone know of any downsides of either of the two? i hear that slotted break under high heat...but that's in intense situations...thanks a lot!

drilled helps keep your calipers cooler under constant braking because they allow air to flow through the caliper and therefore it cools more readily...so under high stress braking your calipers are less likely to warp due to heat. slotted helps grip your pads slightly better...giving you a shorter stopping distance. it's really up to you..personally you really don't need drilled unless you are heavy on the brakes, drive a lot in traffic, or autox. however, almost everyone can use a shorter stopping distance...even if it's only a few inches to a foot (depending on your speed)

it also depends on the type of pads you have. Especially if you go with slotted. Slotted rotors will eat your pads VERY quickly if you don't have the proper pads.

go with slotted... I've read recently that cross-drilled rotors actually do not provide the cooling benefits to a great enough extent to offset the danger of cracks forming. You'll be safe with slotted rotors but will have to change your pads more often. It's a choice I've already made - and would again...
