hi, I'm a newbie here, just brought a 01 Silver GT. Right now I only have the stock 15' rims.

I want to either have new rims or lower the car.
Which one should I get?
Which one is cheaper?

dude...go with the rims first. they totally make your car look better. after that go with the lowering springs, but for sure do the rims first. its well worth it!

hmmm...i say lower it first...get used to ur 15s, ware out the stock tires..lowering it makes ur stock body look more aggressive, it's cheaper and helps cornering..IMO, custom rims on stock height looks ghetto, and u'll be worried about gettin jacked or scratching it...this is only my opinion...if you are a wheel lover..then go for the rims..cuz i know some people who take better care of their rims better than their whole car..hehe good luck!

The thing is...I really want to get rid of the nasty gap between the tire and the car. The gap really stands out on my Silver Celica. puke

If I get the 17' rims with tire about 215/40/17, will that make the gap smaller?? or will that be about the same height as my 15' 195/65/15??

It will be the same height since the outside diameter of both sets of tires are virtually the same. This is a GOOD thing since it doesn't affect your spedometer much. I went for rims first.

It depends on how big of rims you're looking at.

If you're looking at 17", get the rims first.

If you are looking at 18", drop it first. The gap just looks stupid with bigger wheels. The gap really isn't any bigger, but it's just much more obvious.

Thanks for all your advice thumbsup, but I think I'm going to go with the drop. I just can't stand the gap right now.

Btw, anyone knows approxiamately how much it cost to lower the car?? Can I just get those lowing springs from ebay? confused

dropping it will cost you about 500$ i suppose. you need springs, struts, and labor.

I have a Silver/Blue 03' Celica GTS. I bought the H&K 1.5" lowering springs and the Koni struts. I don't have any problems in driving or turning. I also got the 18" Motegi Racing Rims. It's been awhile, but I believed I lowered my car, then got the 18's about a month later. *Also recommend the Yokohoma Parada Spec-2 (Low Profile) Tires. Looks good on mine.

i say lower it.. look at Virgilson's car. It looks pretty sick with the gt rims, gives it an aggressive look.

i'm probably going to lower my car this summer too, that gap is ridiculous but i don't know how much i should lower it. i want to get some 17's too. i keep thinking a 1.5 drop wouldn't be enough but 2 inches might be too low. what do you guys think?
