sup guys, i need help or advice about this incident that i ran through yesterday... well, the story goes like this, One dumbass(me) was driving yesterday when it was pouring real hard, I ran over a puddle of water and the engine just died all of a sudden. The water didn't look as deep as it was until I drove into it, I think it was like 3 inches deep. And I couldn't start my car since then, I had it towed to a body shop and they told me my motor is locked up due to too much water running into it. My only option is to get a new motor which would cost me 6 grand (including labor). This is soooo f**cked up. I need all the advice i can get before I go ahead and do anything. And i trust I have the best celica's experts here. Please help

your engine is waterlocked...bigtime!!! go to ATK-engines.com, and they'll get you a new motor for $2,699.00...and any decent shop shouldn't charge yo more than $1,000 to do the swap...I know its bad, but its better than $6,000

Definately waterlocked, do the spark plug thing and see if the engine will spit out the water, otherwise go to that website and get the new engine... that sucks dude

3SGTE is what came w/the All Trac Celica, but you're looking at $10k do make it fit. Stick w/the 2ZZ 'cuz it'll be cheaper & it's a direct bolt on.

it costs 10k just to make it fit??? i can find some imported 3SGTE engines for less than 3k. so i guess the pain is the cost to make the engine fits, not cost of the engine itself. correct me if i'm wrong.
