hey how does everyone like their Intakes? and which kind do you guys like or have? do you feel the gains from it or no? just wondering because im saving up to buy a Intake and then buy greddy evo2 exaust system im looking into buying the aem cold air Intake just want to see some opinions on what you guys think. thanks.
im saving up for a Injen Intake! i got talked into purchasing one when i do. Because i have a GTS and since the GTS's have Land Lift, Injen is for high end torque and i was told that when having a Injen CAI that when hitting lift with your INjen CAI that you will definately the lift pull harder and with a quicker response! But for a GT I would go AEM cause AEM CAI is for low end torque.
for GT's most people say Injen. Injen does better up high, AEM does better down low. I cant say TPR does better all around as i havent had a "healthy" GT to dyno. However i would assume it would have similar comparison effects on Performance as it does on the GTS (beats out both)...
You might wanna be careful wat you buy as most Intakes i have seen are for MT.
And queue the onslaught of AEM and Injen boys...

TPR Intake! - Injens high end with AEM's low end and NO BOGGING! TPR EXHAUST! - Exhaust made 10.5 whp peak and 32 whp at 6300 on my car!!!
no i was just seein how everyone likes thier Intakes on their celica.. and if its worth buying one.. thats all.. i know i want a aem Intake just want to see if its worth getting..
careful of hydrolock...two case of it already happened.. Jultra and someone else..apply to CAI and in rainy region only..
AHHH im sick of explaining this. You will not hydrolock unless your Intakes filter is completly submerged and has no choice but to suck up water. Its not as big of deal as everyone makes it and you are driving through giant puddles. The everyday driver has nothing to worry about.

You should try to prove your theory. Use a shop vac & hold it close to the water & see if it sucks any of the water up. If it does, chances are you can suck water into an Intake without submerging it. Also factor in that the Intake could be many times more powerful than a shop vac.
my theory is, CAI sucks pretty easily and you dont have to submerge in water to hydrolock. think of this, when you driving on wet roads, ur tires are sprinkling water everywhere. theres a chance that water could go/shoot near the Intake, and the Intake sucks water in it going in the engine. the water doesnt have to be on the floor, you can catch other ppls water when driving on the freeway. but my question is, lets say a little water went in ur Intake to ur engine, wut does it do to it? does it just burn in the combustion room or does it harm the engine in any minor way? i dont need a theory answer, someone who really understands about this should answer. thanx in advance
You can run a hose directly over you Intake filter and it will do nothing. It has to be fully submerged. A shop vac doesnt have the filters that out Intakes do that help to prevent the water. But in your example yes if you took off the filter to your CAI it would suck up water a lot easier and would not have to be fully submerged. Thats why we have filters though.
I have an Injen abd it's pretty good. The only problem I have with it is that it bogs really bad at low RPM's. Because of this I'm considering getting a TPR Intake.
Go with generic brand Intakes from places, saves you lots of money! and works just as well, mines a aem ripoff. As far as hydrolock goes, unless your a dumbass and dont seal the inner wheelwell plastic from water then you'll be fine, you'd have to go in puddles a foot deep to get water into the front grill and back to your Intake. and if so, why the hell are you driving in conditions that bad?
since u're so confidence that it'll won't cost a problem i'd like to see you go do that and video it..i'm having a hard time believing that it wont cost a problem..but from what i've read from threads of other people that got their engine messed up becuase of it, there are still chance of that happening...i'm sure you won't do it because there's some part of you that believe it will mess ur car up..

honestly, the more i get used to it, the more i feel that there's a delay...like the air gets sucked it but there's that delay where the car doeasn't seem to get the air right awwy. i dont' know if i'm explaining myself right. other than that, the gains are good, but i like the sound it makes when i turn the engine off or when i floor the car
i have an aem
oh, on a side note, since my thread about the CEL light on aem Intakes got deleted, i just want to mention, the cel light has been fixed...it was the wire! thanks to the peeps that helped i'd say who you are but i can't remember the names

You want me to run a hose over my Intake filter... uhh... OKAY. If i had i video camera i would. If anybody in the cincy area wants to come over and watch or bring a camera they can. There is already a video of that floating around this site if someone could find it. I will search for it and see if i can.
