Okay my plan all along was to get 2 JL 10w3 subs for my car, along with an amp. They cost $200 a peice. Well I just got a job and best buy and my discount kicks in next week. On car audio stuff the discount is crazy, its like 40% or so. My problem is that best buy doesnt sell JL, so now im pondering. Should I stick with getting the JLs, or should I get my 2 10's from best buy(they sell rockford, kenwood, etc...more on bestbuy.com) If the sound quality wont be THAT different, than of course I would want to save all that extra money. Also I already have JL components installed. So yeah basically I just wanna see what you guys would do.

I'd get the highest priced Rockford stuff you carry. The W7's are sick, but I'd pit Rockford right up against the W3's.

10's are a waste of time, go 12's. It depends on what you listen to. Yes 12's are gonna move more air and be a little louder. But 10's are smaller and can hit quicker for rock/alternative. It all depends on what your going for.

It all depends on what your going for. My favourite setup is quality aluminum cone 12's running open faced in a tight sealed enclosure. They produce big bass for rap & have excellent pound for rock. Its all in the setup!

I don't think 10's are a waste at all. I have two 10's and they hit insanely hard. It's all in the quality of your speakers, amp, and headunit.
Still... if I had it to do all over again, I'd likely get one 12"... just for the increased trunk space.

stick with the JL subs... if you need the trunk space, you'll be surprised how tight one 10w7 sounds

hmmm alright, now ive gotta another question. I listen to rock and rap, generally more rock, but a good bit of rap too. I was going with 10's because well the celica is a smaller car, and I dont want that massive rattling sound that sound like crap, I figured with 10's I would have good sound inside the car for me, and I wouldnt have to worry about the retarded massive rattling noise. Hmm so now if I get 12's will they make the massive rattling noise? And are they gonna be a lot better than 10's? As long as it sounds good inside the car to me, im happy.

10's are a waste of time, go 12's. no offense, you clearly have never heard a 10w7. Fuck the discount, save up and get w7's, the w3's aren't bad though. They'll produce better sound quality than the RF 12's. And that's what's important. Who gives a shit if you havea huge sub that just distorts your music. Not that the RF's suck, but the difference between a w3 and a best buy RF, it's ear splitting man. Go big or go home. I'm saving up for a 13.5 w7.

I like the sound of w6v2s over w7. Sure w7 is louder and hits harder (bigger driver!), but w6v2s I think are more tuned to the sound. The bass drum pounds and other bass tracks rumble. w7 just sounds the same to me. I'm getting 1 10w6v2 for my celica, with the custom box built up against the seat, so I can access the spare tire. Then, you mount the amps on both sides of the sub. My advice, if you wanna hear it. Get your speakers and speaker amp at Best Buy. Get a cap, wiring, etc. For bass, get a w6v2 and a 500/1 monoblock amp at your JL dealer. The best subs i've heard, period.

I would get a w6v2 over a w7 also. I mean bass is important but right now with my 1 12' W6v2 i can hardly hear the components if i turn it up the bass all the way.
