Pepboys has what you need, 500 degree engine paint. They have the primer, enamel, and clear coat. It will cost you about $4.00 a can

Sure does, that wonderful high gloss blue got on mine some how Normal enamel can't take the heat in there, it could crack or even melt. Trust me, if I don't know I don't post

I had no problems, I drove like that off and on for a month. As a matter of fact it will run cooler without the valve/spark plug cover.

I do not think that engine paint will work on plastics? I only want to paint the plastic pieces. Off course it will. That's what I used. All I did was clean the hell out of the plastics, put 3 real thin coats on..the 3 clear coats. I turned out beautiful. I'll post pics soon. I did my interior as well..look sick!

I just painted my plastics and put it next to my Injen short ram. They are almost the exact same color red. I was shocked. Its the 1200 degree paint from autozone. great matchup.
[color:"red"]TRD exhaust/AEM pulley kit/Injen short ram/"happies" grounding kit/raised hood scoop/MTEC lighting package/APC Euros/fill in decals/window tint/s2000 antenna/red footwell neons...more to come[/color]

So with excessive cleaning, do i just use three coats of my 500 degree red enamal and then 2 coats of my 500 degree clear coat? Can i skip the wetsand/prime step if i do that?

Personally I would use a paint rated higher than 500 degrees ... perferably a 1200 degree paint because it does get hot under the hood

Did you prime? What temp paint did you use? I used Dupli-Color Engine Enamel with creamic, 500 degrees. No prime was necessary.

Hey Karrion, how did you do yours? Paint, let dry, paint let dry, paint let dry, clear coat, let dry, clear coat, let dry wait 24hrs, put back on?

the steps you should do are...
prime wetsand paint (as many coats as you want) clearcoat
and make sure you get the same brand for everything!

I regret painting my engine plastics because they get dirty so easily. I think I'm going to buy the Carbon Fiber engine plastics
