I live in New York City and I am wondering if you can have no license plate in the front. Can you get a ticket if you have no front license plate.

In Wisconsin it's the law but I don't have one and nobody's bothered me.

here in Cali its needed.. New york might be the same thing

well around cali, there are a lot of people who doesn't have a front plate, its your choice. you might get a ticket if the cop is a pig.

on there defense they're just doing their job, it is a law to have plates in the front so if you dont have em, your actually doing something illegal.if a po po gives you a ticket for no front plates then you deserve it.
if you want something done about it then vote on the next election

got to have down here as well, and yes, you can get a ticket without it...

If the state law says "Plate must be on front bumper", than i guess you're gonna put your plate on the front bumper.


see in florida our plates reside on our ass ends of the car, no worrying about drilling up bumpers. I think the front is a stupid place for a plate.

Think about it. Body kits don't have the 2 indented holes, makes the front look like shit, the plate is not supported enough only hanging by 2 bolts.

Ass end is better, it looks natural on a car. Plate is in it's own spot, no modifying front ends, no hassle.

in louisiana we have on the rear

im in cali, dont have it on, never been pulled over for it yet... cop asked me once i just told him i had an appointment at a shop to have my bumper drilled and put on

where i live you only have to have one in the rear

New York requires 2 plates.

Yea in cali its a requirement. I havent had one on either of my cars for a while. So far ive only gotten writen up once by a pig. But for the most part, you make up an excuse when they do stop u.

I've gotten a ticket b4 got it signed off then off with the front liscence plate

i live in cali..and didn't have one in the front.. i ended up getting pulled over after 2 years.. took awhile but i did get pulled over! only a fix it ticket...

I don't get why new corvettes don't have front plates on though
a special on tv was saying the best car to speed in would be a black corvette with no front plate as detecting the speed would be harder..

but places where they require you to have the front plate on the bumper is ...

my theory ..

1. Red light camera's at some stoplights ..so you get a picture of your plate in the mail..with a ticket..
(a guess..)

2. So when the po po tries reading your speed they aim at the plate as it is a flat surface... a corvettes front end would be a bit more difficult to get the speed..

i got pulled over once but i told the cop really really nice that i didnt know and that i would put it on...i never did and now i keep it on top of the dash on the right...cops really dont notice much tho unless they're bored

I was almost certain California didn't have to. When I got frames for my new plates, my dad was cool about me not putting them on the front. Hes a stickler about the laws. But because theres the black rubber thing there, I should have a plate anyway. That was his reasoning.

I don't have any in my front bumper... I got temporary for Chino meet (just 1 day: 06-05-04)...
... No problems with cops in MY neighborhood... they know me...
BTW If you got pulled over, tell the cop you got the car like that... he'll give you a "warning" ticket.. I'm not sure if that goes to your record...
