nice...for the $500 range you should be able to afford the Compustar SS, if you install it yourself. It's worth it my friend. It is the top of the line remote pager alarm much better than Viper. The Compustar SS has military spec spread spectrum technology which in this application has a 1.2 mile range, while the Viper remote pager, the 690XV has about a 1/8 mile range...I know b/c I have the 690XV. So you say you don't need a 1.2 mile range?...just wait till you go inside a building only 200 feet away. The Viper may not work, but the Compustar which has the spread spectrum will definitely work. BTW, there are several models of Compustar so do make sure you get the SS. It's well worth it considering that the Viper pager alarm is almost as much. You can get remote start installed with it but I wouldn't recommend it. IMO from a legal standpoint it's way too much of a liability. If you or someone else leaves the car in drive and you remote start it, it will take off and possibly cause damage to another car or seriously injure or kill someone. The person could even be a valet if you do valet parking. So it's up to you...but I wouldn't risk getting sued for everything I own. Ask anyone who knows...not just a shop biased toward Viper because that's all they install...and that person will tell you that the Compustar SS is much better than the Viper remote pager alarm.
Go with the Compustar SS, my friend has it, it's AWESOME. the remote start works well with auto's, not particularly on manuals tho. with autos it's great cus the liability issue decreases. with manuals you gotta worry bout that leaving it in drive shit... lol
^^ yeah, there are videos on the web of manuals left in drive and then started with a remote start...pretty messed up. All this curb jumping and smashing into other cars...and some of these people did it on purpose...guess they don't care about their cars or hope to make money off the video. that's
