So I think its a good idea to go driving down the south of France. Having an awesome time and driving along the coast from Marseille to Monte Carlo. Decide to call in to Toulon to find a bank. Then some guy in a crappy MK1 Golf GTi worth about 100 pounds does this to the side of my car.

Its in the hands of the insurance now. I was in hospital over night with a swollen head. I was out cold for about half hour and I don't remember the accident very well or the 4 hours after. Either way the car will either be repaired or I'll get a payout for the car (lowest value they can come up with no doubt)

No. I've got his details and everything but being unconcious and having amnesia doesn't help in a foreign country. And now I'm back home I'm just hoping the insurance is going to sort it all out.

I was pretty much at a standstill. I was turning left onto the street and it seems hes jumped a red light and just ploughed into the side of me. He braked but his car so old and shit that I doubt it even had brakes. I'm guessing the collision could have been around 30mph. At the moment I'm feeling just about at the lowest point of my life. I'm developing a black eye (5 days later) just for another insult. Thanks for asking though. I'll keep udating anyway. It'll be interesting to see what sort of repair job they can do if the assessor doesn't write the car off.

hope things work out for you man ... just take it easy for awhile and get your rest.. accidents are just a hassel then insurance tries to screw things over so getting a lawyer on your side should help

No news about the car yet. Had a letter through the post from the insurance though stating that I could lose all my no claims bonuses, even though I'm paying 250 extra to fucking protect them. Insurance people are wankers. They're quick to take your money but do everything they can not to give you anything.

^^ it's a business...just the majority of their clients do not get in accidents to know any better till they do get in an accident and it's too late to switch by then of course. The people who do have bad experiences simply need to bad mouth the companies to create more corporate responsiblity and to reward companies for doing the right thing. Public opinion matters.

Quick update. The car got back in the country on Tuesday, but the insurers forgot to tell the recovery company where to take the car. So it didn't get back to the repair shop until this morning. So I went down to see it. Wish I fuckin hadn't! They've thrown a tar poling sheet over it which was covered in dirt, grit and sand just to try and cause even more damage. To top it off when I arrive theres a guy leaning on it like its a fucking tree. So when they uncover it I look inside and it gets worse. The dashboard, climate control and cd controls are covered in dirty marks where people have been climbing over into the drivers seat from the passenger side. The drivers seat itself now has a small hole in the leather from where they've sat on the glass, and is soaking wet with rain water. The floor was covered in mud and theres all sorts of scuffs on the interior plastic paneling on the doors etc. All in all it looked like a 10 year old wreck and was very distressing to see.
The assessors will look at it early next week and I'll know by Wednesday whats going to be done. I'm hoping they write the fucking thing off because its worthless now. Where the side pillar has been hit, its pulled the roof downwards and the sill upwards and the repair guy said because of this theres a fair chance they'll write it off. But on the other hand if the insurance company says to fix it then they'll do it. Basically they'll put it in a jig, straighten it back out and spot weld it. Can't see the car ever being the same again if they pull that little number off.
Can't wait for this nightmare to be over!
