Celica Forums General Discussion General Got a ticket and almost went to jail

So i was driving yesterday and i decided to pass this lady infront of me and it was right at the bottom of a hill so i tried to hurry up and get around her and just my luck a cop was coming over the hill. So stupid me i took off because there wasnt really anywhere for him to turn around till he came to a drive way and i ended up losing him and somehow ended up behind him in a little subdivision. I saw him up ahead of me so i went real slow and he turned back off onto the road i saw him on. So i was like oh shit that was luck. But i was heading to springfield and this was the only way to go unless i wanted to backtrack a long ways so i decided to go for it and he was waiting for me about a mile away and pulled me over and was real pissed because he knew i was running. So he makes me get out of my car and cuffed me and sat me in the cop car and he threatened to take me to jail and give me a CNI but i guess he knew my dad and just gave me the speeding ticket. I hate pigs!

So right now im grounded and got my car taken away.

I don't know if the ticket was deserved or not (you didn't really give enough info on that aspect)... but running was a mistake. He very well might have just given you a warning if he wasn't pissed about having to chase you.

I know some of us have ran before, but it's usually for severe infractions. I know the only time I've ran, I passed a parked CHP doing 125. Needless to say, any ending but me getting away would have been BAD... whether I pulled over right away or got caught running. When you run, you have to accept that things will be worse if you are busted... so in your case, it was the WRONG thing to do.

well i was clocked at going 73 in a 55 and i just told the cop i was going by a friends house. He asked me his name and junk and said alright lets go by their house and thats when i gave in. My ticket is going to cost me like $148 which includes the $14 court cost. I think im going to take it to the ticket center and pay like $265 to get it taken off my record and all that good stuff. Looks like i gotta wait on lowering now since ill be broke for a while.

You should have laid low for an hour or so or back tracked. Its worth it! Out of the five or six times I have ran, I got caught once.

yeah i know that now but i was kinda in a hurry because i was going to pick up my g/f and she had an ortho appointment. i should have just gone out of my way to get out of that mess.

It was bad when all my friends were driving by and calling my cell phone saying we see your car but we dont see you. where are you at? One friend drove by right as the cop was uncuffing me. i was like oh great.

running is never worth it IMHO...plus, my car is unmistakeable around where I live

Yeah my car is always going through there. Plus my car doesnt really blend in with everyone elses. I normally got like 75-85 through there anyway and hardly ever see cops.

well that sucks but if your going to run always take a different way then the way you normally go. Hope you learned to slow down

I don't do it to be cool, I do it so I don't get a ticket. Running from the cops is not a highspeed chase like you see on tv, its avoidance.

They may recongnize your car & know its you; but they have to catch you in the act.

When you own/drive a car, it comes with responsibilites and avoiding a cop while being pulled over is not one of them.

Just because they are the law, doesn't make them right. Speeding tickets are BS, charge people who cause accidents not people who don't. Speed does not cause accidents, idiots do.

i actually agree with this
i can speed down the highway with no other cars and not get into an accident. an accident can only happend if someone stop my forward momentum from happening(ie if some1 cuts me off).
if everyone is doin 100 in the freeway and every1 is cautious i dont see any point for a cop to pull some one over for speeding. actaully if you think about it the person driving less than a 100 may be the one to cause the accident.

btw i know there is a country with NO speed limit and they have less accidents than we do

to me he was not running from the cops. did the cop turn on his lights?, no, did he turn on his sirens? no, did he tell him to pull over?? no. to me the kid was just avoiding a situation to get a ticket. he was not in any manner in dangering any1 but himself. if some bitch was driving slow i would have done the same thing and speed up to pass her up. just because i sped up over the limit does not mean that ill cause an accident.
OK heres a similar example let say iam on the freeway and i was doing 80mph then i see a cop tailing me(no sirens or anything just following me)
so to avoid confrontation i exit the freeway, cops follows.so i think oh shit i might get a ticket. i do a series of turns into streets and lose the cop
