Well you all seemed to dislike the Eclipse a bit much, so how about one of the other cars I was looking at: 2000 Honda Prelude. Good car? Can make lots of power? I know its a Honda and they are everywhere but that is not a concern of mine, only things Im looking at is if its a good car and the power capabilities.

Go w/ the celica, Toyota's way more reliable, and the looks can kill.

The Prelude is a very nice car. If they were still in production, you can bet I would have bought one buy now. Still, I'm pretty sure that handling-wise, they just don't stack up with the Celi.

I won't be one to talk you out of it though. thumbsup

the prelude is a nice looking car. if you were to get it, get the highest model, the S/H. my friend has one and it kicks ass thumbsup

SH isnt that much different from the base. my gf has a prelude. it's fast and handles OK, but the celi handles better.. and if you wanna be faster than a prelude.. get a 6spd gts.

vtec > lift

i loved the acceleration i got from the prelude. there was no bogging down at all like the celica. (yes i have a gt but ive driven the gts as well) the gains from i/h/e alone was awesome. it doesnt handle as well as the celica. the interior and exterior look better on the celica. gas mileage sucked on my lude too. but a gsx wouldnt be so bad...the engine would crap out on you sooner...but its really cheap to make really fast. as much as i loved my prelude i would say to go with the celica after looking at the pros and cons.

i heard from a mechanic that works at the honda dealer..the H22 on those has lots of problems..that's why they discontinued it. EDIT and that boxy design IMO looks like an old style design..i'd prefer the 96 models..but that's just me, i'd go with squadone's advice n get the 6-speed.

If I got a Prelude it would be 92-96. They look better IMO. thumbsup

But between the two, I would have to say Celica.

i know a guy that used to drive a prelude... he and his prelude friends all had trouble with their suspension and grinding of gears... it might be because they raced a lot but i say get the celi... more reliable

an Eclipse GT is not that bad.

my friend drives a 02 Eclipse GT, and it rides nice.

although lots of people say that the new model Eclipse

starts to fall apart after 65,000 miles, but so fay, my

friend' car runs pretty damn good. the interior looks cheap

but the sound of his car is really good, plus it has more

torgue than my Celica. **The Sad Thing is---it doesnt run

any faster than my Celica GT**

dont get me wrong bro. i 100% support my Celica.

the prelude SH comes with atts...thats the only difference. in order for the atts to work you would have to like take a turn at 70 mph to feel a difference in handling. all it does is add extra weight. not worth it in my opinion...

either way you look at it...these are all good cars and im sure you will be happy with whichever it is you decide to get...if you asked this on a honda site...you would get a honda, same with mitsubishi...but your on a celica sight so what do you think the majority of your answers are going to be?

preludes are big full sized cars, it is like a half a car length longer than my celica.

drove my friends prelude (aem v2, dc header, tanabe exhaust, shortshifter, rpm shift light) and it was substantially easier to drive than my celica, it actually has torque.

vtec kicks in 'round 5k rather than the celica's 6k. overall engine Performance seems better, clutch is smoother, and shifting is easier.

but still, i would not trade my celica gts for a prelude. celica is like 2500lbs and prelude is what 3300-3600lbs, i don't know, on his registration it was listed as 3600lbs, heavy as hell...

Sorry but I have to go with the Prelude. H22 has way more potential and parts are a lot less expensive. The GT and GTS just don't compare when it comes to marketability. VTEC kills. Enough said, and oh yeah...can't really compare the reliability. Honda and Toyota are great.

i would say celica, but i had a prelude in highscool, and in one month it got broken into 2 times and stolen the 3rd time. check on the insurance. see which one is cheaper that might help make your decision. preludes are ok, but i'd never trade my celica for one! smile

I was going to get a 2000 or 2001 prelude! Cause i love the body and i was going to get a red one! but i couldnt find one that i exaclty wanted. But then again the celica looks so sweet and think about. Celicas do stand out a lot in a crowd. I know i see it. Its just the way they look, dunno they look sexy and aggressive! I love my celica! Celica GTS all the way for me mayne! thumbsup grin
