I just got back from the inspection station. I previously failed for a bad gas cap and smoked tailights, two legit problems. When I went back today all I needed was a visual check on the tailights and a pressure test on the gas cap, not a full inspection. The gas cap passed but that ass now failed me for my MTECH lights. He said they were blue or blue bulb lights. I was pissed. I told him you are failing my car for something you weren't even suppose to check this time around and was a prior pass 2 weeks ago. I said it was bulls**t, I called him a f***ing asshole, and flew out of there as I laid a patch. Does any one here know any laws for NJ regarding this? Whether he's right and I am wrong or vice versa, I would like to know. Also, I think I'm just going to pay some dirt merchant $50 for an inspection sticker. The hell with that crap.

NJ is so gay...all those people who work there suck balls...

MTEC should pass...as well as PIAA, they are LEGAL and even say so on the packages you get...even though every state is different, NJ allows them

I don't know if it is the same in your state or not, but in Missouri, 90% of shops and car dealerships in the state are certified inspection stations. What I mean by this is, if you don't pass, just take it to a friend that works at one of these places, or slip them a ten spot. happywink

Did you go to the same place that failed you last time? Couldn't you of gone to another emissions inspection shop?

Change your high beams to sylviania hyperwhite or whatever the hell it is, then go back. Those yearly inspections mistify me. What the hell. Nothing like that in Canada man.

Just a gay way for the state to collect revenue.

I couldn't go to another free state inspection station. I work like a mad man and only have enough time to get to this one 15 mins. away from my work. Then next one is like 45 mins. away and would be closed. I was thinking throwing the $50 some what dollars to get the sticker but now, after I already took off Bat's overlays, it's not worth it. I should've gone that route to begin with. I'm going back tomorrow to raise hell. If they say they are illegal, I'm going to change the only two bulbs I have that show blue (I saved my original bulbs - low and highs). Then after I pass I'm going to change back to the MTECHs right in front of those asses.

Yeah NJ will fail you for bullshit like side marker lights being white. I failed for exhaust noise, and side marker color. After that experience I said fuck it and started going to a private inspection place. I have to drop down $50, but it's better than having to uninstall exhaust and remove lights at every inspection.

^^^You're very right. When I was getting my gas cap at Toyota I told the parts department guy about my dilema. He told me the day before an elderly lady came in for a failed inspection because of windshield wiper blades. That's right, you read right. This parts guy said he checked this ladies blades and they still had meat left on them. He told me they must have realy examined those blades to fail her. I was going the legal safe way through life recently, but F**k that. celwin, if you can hook me up w/ some places in I guess Elizabeth, Patterson, Jersey City, I don't care. You know of a "good" doctor? I have a pain in my leg that I might need 3 weeks off from work if you get me.

It seems like Florida and Minnesota amoungst others are the lucky ones. I'm just happy NJ didn't fail me on my perfectly legal Injen CAI on visible inspection alone. Those mothers checked every route of those hoses, the whole Intake part, and even where the filter was. I passed with the visible inspection (they didn't pop any other cars hood except mine) and emissions. I changed my filter from K&N to an open end dry Apexi type. My rear brakes need shims and are making horrible clicking noises over bumps, and like I said before my clutch is gone ( the prior inspection guy stalled my car 4 times). Who cares about that, I have white lights and blue bulbs. I could pull out in traffic and go no where because of my clutch and almost die, which has happened. Blue style bulbs is a no no if the inspector can see the blue coating. MORONS.

Blue signal lights are illegal almost anywhere. Get the sylvania ones that are blue, but they flash amber. thumbsup

I know lots of places in NJ will pass me. As I already said I took Blue Bat's overlays off so the money spent on the sticker + the overlays isn't worth it because I have saved my old bulbs which I will pass. I failed for my headlights low and/or highs? not my sidemarkers. I know about the illegal turn signals. I never thought a blue coated bulb for my headlights would fail me and it didn't the first time. ASSES. Not you guys the inspection station. ASSES.

I would keep the lowbeams as MTECHS. They're blue but you can't see it because of the lens. I did that with mine, and the highbeams are the sylvanias. They're not quite as bluish looking (the acutal light) but I don't use the highbeams as much so it doens't bother me. The bluish tint of the bulbs bothered me more in the highbeam area.

Another thing to consider is chrome bulbs. You can get chromies that shine hyperwhite. The bulb is bluish but it's electroplated chrome so you can't tell.

This first bulbs is a sidemarker bulb. I just posted it so you can see the bulb is blue, but plated chrome.

This is the actual chrome signal light.

Here's a pic of it installed.

What sucks is you know the inspectors probably drive piece of shit rustbuckets and that makes them all bitter. Then they don't want to cut anyone a break with a nice car, just to be a dick.

FL doesnt have inspections!!!!!!! I live in the Commonwealth of VA! Commonweaths are THE WORST super crazy mad laws about random stuff are abound and enforced all the time. I have been pulled over twice for my exhaust in one week once. Every time I tell them I just bought the car and I need to get the exhaust replaced but come on! FL I envy you! wave

I hate to say this, but I would be doing the research before I spent mad money tinting, doing the lights & other stuff that may not be legal. Who wants to have to take it off later. Make sure its legal & then you won't have a problem.
