Mine went out at 75k miles. That's where most peoples goes out at with somewhat normal driving.
Regardless of what clutch you get, don't get more than you need. It will hurt you in the long run.

and recommend RPS... drifter likes his supra_celica likes his csherrif loves his i dunno, this is really the only board i'm familiar with and i have never read a bad thing about the act street clutch on this board. what are the problems that they talk about, josh? i would actually love to know because when my clutch does go out (which it will soon i'm sure) i was pretty sure i'd be replacing it with the act street clutch.

40k? not bad...you're somewhere in between the clutch killers and drivin' Miss Daisy. My stock clutch had a very short life hehehe. If you haven't voided your warranty why not have the dealership put another clutch in since it should last you another 40k? Funny thing is the dealership didn't know I had the clutch done when that was the only thing (besides flywheel) I had at the time on an otherwise stock car. If you've done modifications and voided your warranty according to your local dealerships, you'd be fine with a good stage 1 street clutch like the RPS costing around $250. Sure beats the Clutchmaster Stage 3 Kevlar which costs $500.
I get my kicks on EC.

How much labour will they charge to install the clutch & flywheel? After you pay the labour, you might as well spend decent money on the clutch.

well while we are talking about clutchs, mine is starting to slip too, and i asked my dad if he could put it in for me becuase he is a mechanic and works on 18wheelers, and he said that it is a bitch to put a clutch into a front wheel drive car, because you have to take the motor out or something, is this true?

well i have ACT street clutch..it's alright..don't seem any different then stock..since it uses stock plate or disc anyway..my car when i got it the clutch went out at 23k and even b4 that the last owner had already replace with different clutch anyway..dumbass dealer didn't even know about it..what about Exedy from Clutchmaster? i heard someone on here have them and like them a lot..oh well..good luck..check out the websites above, they have good prices..

how fast it wears out can be a combination of several factors: your skill in using the clutch, how much stop and go traffic (or is it mostly free and clear and cruising), how much you enjoy racing and slipping the clutch on purpose or dropping the clutch from very high rpms which tends to make the weak stock clutch slip and wear out faster. I like Clutchmasters and am happy with my choice, but those are on the expensive side. My aftermarket clutch is lasting A LOT longer than the stock clutch did.

By far, clutch wear is determined by the operator.
If you ride your clutch and accelerate heavy from a dead stop, your clutch is going to be short lived.

I'm with QTRMLR_1, Clutchmasters clutches are my fave I love their Kevlar clutch, you can drop into second from thirt and just haul ass and it won't even slip, those things last a good 50k if I heard my friend correctly, he's driven 37k on his so far and no problems w/ slipping at all, and he still does stupid shit with it personally if your car means a lot to you, i'd go the extra mile and spend the cash

its highly doubtful that the dealership will replace your clutch. they classify the clutch as a 'wear item', just like tires and brake pads, so its not covered under warranty. however some people have gotten lucky and have got them replaced..it all depends on your dealership.
and clutch brands i would go with are either RPS or Exedy..i've heard nothing but awesome remarks about both brands.

I myself need a new clutch like I stated in a previous topic. I don't need, want, or ever want to see a 6 puck clutch installed on my car unless I was going the Turbo and etc. route, which I'm not. I need to know of a good clutch and possibly flywheel combo for a stock Celica. RPS sounds great and TRD Japan sounds great to me. How does any one else think? Flywheel wise, Fidanza is way out of the question. Too light for me. Something heavier would be great. What flywheel would work best with the TRD Japan clutch or the RPS street clutch (TQ cap of 230) other than the RPS flywheel with the RPS clutch? Any one with first hand experience in this?
