For those who were thinking of buy hinges from aspectmotorsports. All you are buying is a Decah Civic Hinge. It will not be modified to fit the celica. And, it will not be painted to match your car. You would have to do all the welding, drilling, sanding and painting on your own. If you are not sure, just call decah directly and ask them where you can get a celica kit. The number is at www.decah.net [ decah.net] They will tell you the ONLY place to get a decah kit modded for the celica and still keep it's warrenty is www.Carexcess.com [ carexcess.com]

See how you can look under the fender and see the hinge and gas shock? Go look at your car right there. That section of metal is what needs to be cut/rolled so the hinge arm will go donw behind the fender when the door is shut.

damn why does aspect motersports have to make shotty stuff. Oh well now if I buy it I save on installing it...hopefully I can do it at home, the only thing that seem hard is cutting the fender, do you have to talk your door off for this?

Whoo Hoo!! I got a sticky!!!
But anyway...to answer the question. You don't really need to take your door off for this install. You take off your bumper, lights and fenders. Then get some of that 1 inch masking tape like bodyshops use. put about 5 strips on your windshield down to the front of your door to hold it into place. Then take your stock hinges off. The tape will hold your door in the correct position for the new hinge. Then bolt up the new hinge to the car and to the door. Adjust your allen bolt so the door closes properly and put your car back together again!!!

Damn, my sideskirts are attached the the fenders. So, i have take those off. My what i can tell, it seems like a pretty easy install other than the fact that you got take everything off.

Don't you bonk you head getting in and out? Because the door doesn't seem to open far enough from the pictures I am seeing? I would like to see the door open so that the bottom of the door is parallel with the pillar.

I'll get some pics up as soon as I get my car back from the shop. When I was at Carexcess, we actually put the doors on a car that had molded sideskirts. It's alil more time consuming, but it can be done. The main thing with that is you need wrenches that work like a ratchet if you know what I mean.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I looked for ways to do it without taking the fenders off. The bolts for the stock hinges behind the fenders may able be taken off with an ratchet.

My car is a daily driver. It's a 2000 with 75000 miles on it. I got my doors installed when it had under 60000 miles on it. And I've never had a problem yet with the Carexcess kit. As for gas shocks, if one goes out, just go to the hardware store and buy another one.

hei i've got the veilside sideskirts and front bar like seaside graphix. will the lambo kit fit without having to modify the side skirts etc?
also, eventho the fenders are rolled, when the doors are closed everything still looks just like stock right?

Yeah, everything is still like stock. There is no moddification to the sideskirts at all for this install only the inner fender.

It would be the same as any other bodykit. The car that did that has the springman's hinge. That's the first hinge I had on my car, it's crap though

hei phatcelly i been reading the rest of the stuff above and i just cant figure out exactly which part of the fender needs to get rolled. i need to explain this all to my car guy down here in Australia so i kinda need to know pretty much exactly wat needs to be done. 'specially about the rolling the fender bit.

No prob...look at the pic above. See how you can see the gas shock and hinge? Now go look at your car in that area. There is metal there. That metal is what needs to be cut for the arm of the hinge to lower down behind fender when closing.

so yew're pretty much talking about this inside bit circled in red? if so, how do yew roll that without taking off the fender? also, carexcess said it was a reversible process. i dont think it is if that part has to be rolled/cut.

i had another look at all the original hinges. so this kit will just use all the original bolt positions and wont require anymore drillling for additional bolts? will there be any empty holes?
Thanks for all the help as well phatcelly!

You are correct, all the holes will be filled. The hinge fits right where the stock ones are. And yes, where you circled is what gets cut out or rolled. I'm actually not sure what rolling is, I just cut mine off You could call Ian and ask him 787-585-7878

Thanks for the heads-up phatcelly. im still only worried about the instuctions provided. does it include exactly which part and how much of the inner fender needs 2 be cut? ALso im gonna assume that the carexcess kit is far more stable than the springmans one coz i saw the video of that kit and the door wobbled heaps!

Yeah, I've had both the springmans' kit and carexcess kit on my car. Carexcess is much more stabe, I've even driven w/ my doors up w/out a problem for a parade I was in It comes w/ detailed picture instructions on exactly what you need to do.

cool mann so wat you are saying is that they dont wobble at all right? like when they open, they move only in the one direction (ie. up) and dont 'sway' from left to right at all.

I would not say it as stable as the stock door, But, I would say it DOES NOT wobble while going up or down.

phatcelly, we just had a modified car show today and some dude already had the decah kit and i noticed a problem with it. with the Australian spec celica, we have the side indicator lights right on the side of the fender and therefore it has to be removed as well in order for the hinge to close down. im currently trying to work my away around this and fuguring out any other place tio have this side indicator light. also, i spent a considerable amount of time staring at which part of the fender needs to be cut and i think i had it wrong before. its actually just the 'flap' of the actual fender that bends inwards that needs to be cut right?

yeah, that's the part that needs to be cut...a friend of mine had side indicators on his fenders also. He had to just take the bulb out of it (so the sidemarker is now just for looks) for the hinge to fit right. but that was it
