I have a 1992 Celica GT Convertable and am trying to replace the back speakers in the car. According to Crutchfield and Best Buy, I am supposed to use 6 1/2" round speakers in the back. My speakers there don't look that large... Are they right? Also, I can't figure out how to get the back side panel off to replace the speakers. I removed about 10 different screws, but still couldn't disconnect the panel. The Chilton manual I bought just says "remove the retaining screws and remove the panel" ;-)

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!
Chris

I don't know a lot about the 92. But could it be possible that there are plastic pop rivets holding the pannel on and perhaps you just need to pull somemore? You can always go to an autozone and just check the car manuals they have there for your car, make it look like you're browsing the manual.
Sometimes the plastic grills are smaller than the actual speaker. If you have reliable documentation that says 6.5 go with it. You won't know for sure till you get that panel off though.
