Paint is determined by the skill of the painter. No self respecting painter would work for Macco. I would go to a decent body shop that specializes in customs.

You get what you pay for. If you spend $150 or whatever to get it painted at MACCO and then it goes to hell, you'll end up spending the $450.00 to get it done properly ON TOP OF the $150.00 you already spent. Spend wisely, spend once. Measure twice and cut once too, while I'm at it. grin

I would have a different body shop do it. Some of the stuff macco does isnt too bad though. The cheap services uses cheap paint. For a good job from macco it will cost as much as any other place.

stay away from maaco please. unless you buy the paint, do the bodywork yourself, and let them spray it.

they use crummy product and are pretty lazy with the body work.

i can't complain with maaco thoguh i did do all the body work myself and i know the owner so i saved 200$ but got a full base coat clear coat for 700 with a 4 year warrenty not to mention no over spray at all

there are some spots im not too happy with and there were some pieces of tape left here and there but other then that im happy

everybody loves to talk smack and maybe a friend of a friend got stuff done by them that turned out bad but every maaco is diffrent ask around see what a local oppinon is on them from peopel that had them do work

just like with every thing eles you get what you pay for and im more then happy with my paint

yeah, i had maaco do one of my ex-cars too.

they did a pretty good job with the actual painting of the car.

but the body work they did seemed rushed, and the paint they used faded pretty quickly.

Ack! Just say no to MAACO! I worked at a body shop in college and MAACO redo's came our way alot. I'd hate to see a perfectly good Celica be tortured like that. Oh wait, I get it, nobody in their right minds would do it to a Celica, so come on, admit it, you own a Pinto and that's what you want MAACO to paint, right? That's it right? Please? Dear god let me be right! tongue

like i said 4 year warenty if anything goes wrong i call em if they give me shit i call tthe lawyer simple as that

oh and im not in my right mind ? for getting my 00 gts painted by them ? or i could have got a loan and let toyota paint it for 4 grand whos in there right mind ignorant bastards

my old ramcharger had a cheap maaco job the lowest priced one they have and where they did the body work it was crap lik i said up top but every where eles the paint was still glossy after 4 years of offroading and rare wash's

so im letting there work (allentown pa) speak for itself looknig at my paint now it has less orange peel then from factory

Well, I have apparently upset drkramm, I didn't mean to upset him. I'm sure it was a great job. From now on I will remain serious so as to keep the more sensitive members blood pressure down. I am now voting for you to have MAACO paint it. I mean hey, it will look better then not painted at all and you can use the money you save for strippers. And let's face it, strippers will bring you infinitely more happiness then the paint will.

so shut your ignorant mouth

if you want a quality job, it's going to cost some money. but ppg has a clear called 2021, that's the best there is, looks wet when the car is clean. but hey, it's your money and your car, you do with it as you see fit. as long as you're happy with the work then go for it. thumbsup

Ah well, I tried. I find it amazing that WCB420 asked for peoples opinion on the subject and that other people seem to have a problem with conflicting opinions. Look, I don't think I would have MAACO paint my car. No matter which one I chose. Now drkramm believes that MAACO will do a great job, that's his opinion and perfectly fine with me. There, now WCB420 can take whichever one he wants.

my little brother has had his civic painted by maaco, we got the car back three weeks ago and yeah it's great for a 300 dollar paint job and the time that it took to get it all done. however... i work at a body shop, and i'm peculiar, so first thing i did was chew them out for getting overspray on nearly every molding on the car rather than using molding tape. next i chewed them out for the sorry job of wet sanding the clear ( a large piece of trash was allowed to hit the wet paint and was just pulled out and not corrected, leaving a huge ripple) that part wasn't wet sanded out properly. after me complaining about it all, they agreed to repaint the car for free and refund half the price of the job. now granted my bro couldn't afford the 700 bucks for the paint and me prep it for free, but he did get a decent job for the money. so it's your call thumbsup

i might take my trd wing to get sprayed at maaco. i have it already prepped.

now i have a question...do they have the 1d0 color for the silver celicas or do i have to provide the paint myself?

...
remember in the simpsons, where homer used uranium to speed to process of growing his produce. he mixed tobacco and tomatoes together and the result was tomacco.
they animals ate the hybrid fuit and got hella addicted to it. a sheep got so addicted to it that it started saying "tomaccooooo" omg, the fucking sheep started talking in english because of its addiction.

Maaco made me think of this. rofl

Christ, give the guy a break. The way you are defending Maaco, it seems like you hold stock in the company or something.

yea and you know it was prolly the 100$ jobs like i said you buy the good one its pretty good work i had the shitty paint job on my dodge ram charger and that thing lasted 4 yewars and looked as good as the day we got (we sold it after 4 years) only thing macco sucks at is body work which i siad many times so if they had to fix the body work then your post was fucking useless so learn how to read all the posts then comment its not to difficult... and how about giving me a fucking break hmm.. ?
and i don't own stock in the company but they did do of my cars and they came out great of course i did all the body work on the celica so all macco did was paint thats what i mean by first hand expericane maybe those people that brought there shit to his shop tried to wax it to soon well shit man nomatter who paints it you try to wax it after a week the paint is gonna get messed up

Here's the deal with maaco, they put 2 coats of paint and 1 coat of clearcoat when they paint, whereas a normal SMART painter would prime, paint like atleast 3-4 or even 5 coats of color, along with 1-2 or possibly 3 coats of Clear coat, now do the math... thumbsup

here:

if you go to macco to get stuff painted dont bitch about what a shitty job they did. you chose maaco for whatever reason.

hell, i might choose to go because all im getting painted is my wing and thats not much. i knew before hand that maaco sucked at some parts but its what i could afford right now. but mind you, i wont bitch about it.

do whatever you want to and can afford to do. thumbsup
