Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior My stock lug nuts are to short for my new rims?

I just tried to put my new 17 by 8 inch rims on, they are a 35mm offset but the stock lug nuts aren't long enough to reach the screw when you try to screw them on. and where should I get them. My car is almost complete...Help

a tire store might be the answer to your problem.

if you do go, make sure you bring at least one rim so you can provide a better example of the problem to one of the employees at the store.

are yoru stock lug nuts the right ones for you wheel cause 99 percent of aftermarket wheels take a conical seat lug ntu adn the stock ones arent that type.

so no stock lugs will not fit new wheels

35+ offset should make the wheel sit perfectly. No reason to worry the stock lugs are most likely the problem. You may need to get new wheel lugs you can get them at your local wheel store. Check Discount Tire if you have one in your area. They'll give you the correct lugs. They sell the lugs and key for a good price too.

try going to america's tire and ask for some tuner lugs. they should have it in stock along with a key.

tuner lugs don't push the rims all the way up against the rotor, this is a pain in the ass

Krayze is more than right, what I can make out. Never assume that a stock lug will fit an aftermarket wheel for our cars. It just won't work ever. Some wheels won't even "accept" certain tuner lugs. Questions about this should be asked when ordering new wheels, the right lugs should be provided with the wheels, and/or if you don't like the lugs they provide ask them which ones in your choice will work? Does that make sense? Any place will do this or point you in the right direction.

what i was referring to is the type of lugs he has.

tuner lugs are also called conical seat lugs due to teh cone shape of the lug nut

stock lugs are not that type.

stock lugws will not fit 99 percent of the wheels on teh market so you need new lugs to make any aftermarket wheel fit your car.

i havent gotten new wheels yet (still rollin on hubs) but dont new rims come with the lug nuts?

no not always some supplies will send you lug nuts to fit but not all of them
