R32 is a nice car but I would get an EVO MR or STI instead.

it's actually pretty nice...but yeah, i'd still pick quite a few other cars over it though, because i like a good overall package. G35c, IS300, s2000, and evo is what i'd get before that.

They are very nice cars. If you're looking for a fast car that also offers a ton of space, that is it.

Not a fan of VW due to their reliability issues. You'd be better off looking elsewhere IMO.

Had nothing but trouble with it, and the dealership was more reluctant to fix anything than a Toyota dealership. Problems ranged from issues with the clutch/transmission, all the way to the alarm arming and disarming itself due to a faulty electrical system. A year later, $6000+ in repairs (most of which were under warranty), they finally got a lawyer and sorted everything out.

The GTI platform is a very light car, so don't be fooled by the horses (240 I believe), this thing'll take off!!! VW's are also notorious for great low end torque. My VW Cabrio has a troque peak of 120 lb-ft at 2600rpms, although it's power peak is 115 at 6200 rpms (redline) and the auto in the car shifts at 5600.

yup the car looks slow but can hold its own on a track. the low end torque and suspension set up stock makes it a demon on corners

I acutally talked to a vw dealer (gf was getting her jetta serviced) and he took us for a test drive. VERY NICE CAR 240hp awd not sure about torque, but we were taking turns at incrediable speeds. This is a very cool car. And from what he said only 5000 were released in the US so if you want to be unique this would be a good choice. Hopefully he wasn't just trying to get me to buy one. Oh well the GTS is more me anyways. Good luck buying
I wanted to slow down so i can lick his tears of saddness.

Get a used 1.8 Turbo, and spend the extra cash on tuning that instead. You'll get a quicker car. If that's what your after.

not a fan of the vw. and you can defintly get a better car for it's price. just watched redline tv and i guess sum company in canada has a 500 hp twin Turbo r32. so go for it if you want. frankly i hate the styling of it and the clutch/ tranny sux for vw's. but it's your choise you could end up lovin it
