I ran into a puddle a few weeks ago durning a rain storm, and the CAI sucked up some water, the car started to choke at the stop light, then I pulled into a parking lot and turned it off, and now it's dead. Any advice what I should do?? Besides a new motor?? I guessing the motor be a gonner... I already took off the Intake manifold and found some water in there, so I let it dry. Any advice on what I should do?

u shouldnt have turned it off in the first place. try to start the car again by punching on the gas all the way. or else i think you can take out the sparkplugs and then try to start it, water should shoot out

yeah, once you get it back on (if you are lucky enough to), drive it really really hard, and put new plugs in too...by driving it hard it will force the excess out of the engine, and it may even run rich for a little while, but if you can get it back on and drive the water out of it, then it will eventually even itself back out

A few days ago i drove though a huge puddle too but i was in a type r the car died and shut off but i think what happened is that the AEM CAI was submerged in water and it relized it wasnt getting air so it died. it wouldnt start at first then on the 3rd try it started and ran like a champ. just keep trying and hopefully it will start.

Someone should invent something to pour into an engine that will cause the water to evaporate/displace so that hydro-locking is repairable.

You should also buy one of them splash guards for you CAI... I think they make em... If not try makein one your self so you dont get these problems as often.

First off, you didn't hydrolock. If you did, your car wouldn't have started to choke, it would have just died right away. You should have left the car running in order for the water to have burned out of the system. You most likely just flooded the cylinders enough to prevent or retard combustion.

If and when you do get it started, I hope it runs ok. I've heard of people breaking connecting rods due to that, and hopefully the reason it won't start is due to wet plugs, and not a stuck piston.

What does it sound like when you try to start it? Does it even crank?

You might wanna take your plugs out and dry everything out.

Usually right after you get a little water into the Intake and your car still continues to run, the temperature and operation of the engine is enough to work the water out of the combustion cycle.

Also, where you would pour the miracle solution into the engine, it would not be able to get to the same places that the water is at, especially if the water got into the cylinders.
