I was thinking that since i have a short ram intake and how hot it gets in cali during the summer i should know what the temp is under my hood so that i can know how hard to push my car, according to the tempurature of the air its getting. So, i went out to radioshack and bought an $8 indoor/outdoor thermometer and mounted the outdoor sensor next to my inake and put the thermometer in that sunglass cabin. i know it won't help anything but i just like analyzing every little thing about my car so this should help tell me how the car reacts to different temp condition. I'll post pics tomorrow! and post a how-to also.

so you're going to record the ambient, engine compartment, and sunglass compartment temperature?

no, i know it sounds dumb but i just think i should have it so that i can know the temperature of the air that my car is sucking up. and it tell me the cabin temp not just for the sunglass compartment

so you're going to record the ambient, engine compartment, and sunglass compartment temperature? no... his sensor is mounted by his shortram and the display is mounted in his sungalss compartment this is good - I thought about something simular to this a while back (but just about outside temp... not as clever as yours ), but I wasnt sure of how the wind factor was going to play with tempertures under the hood and across the sensor... so i put that idea back in the bag

yay! see isaac knows what i'm talkin 'bout. but yeah, the install took bout an hour. and the wind while driving does change the temp under the hood but it doesn't matter since that is the true temperature of air that is used by my intake. so far i've only used seen the temps at night the highest temperature was 128 F the lowest (while driving) was 101 F going about 60 mph

yo isaac if you want i will pick you up one and we could meet up i can help you with the install. it's easy just hope you can remove your center console. you dont want to know how many "almost connected" wires are behind my center console the lighting in my voltmeter goes off and on when i drive over a bump... Its been that way for about a month now - I need to just pull it out and re-position the wires (or find exactly where the electricity short is at ) we can hookup sometime and go through the install proccess together, but its not really something I want in my car - I have a custom VGS planned for my sunglasses case. The next modification to my setup will involve "twead"... no, not the stuff you roll up and smoke

ok here are the pic. basically i removed the center console and shot the wire down through the dash (under the steering column, then between the front fender and body (theres a space in between and hooked it right next to my intake filter.
