As some of you may or may not have known, someone attempted to break in my car at Intercourse, PA. I want to take this to the dealer to get it repaired, but I'm pretty sure they are going to overcharge on everything. Can anybody give me advice on what I should do with this problem? Thanks!

Oh and this problem is SUPER annoying, cause everytime I close my door, the window hits the plastic and doesn't close properly. So I have to roll down and roll up everytime. It's annoying dammit!

I have a $500 deductable, but do you think it'll cost over $500 for the damage? Yea, I am very pissed still. What is $149.99?

If ppl aren't getting ihto accidents or hit and runs lately, they're getting their cars stolen. PPL need to leave our cars alone.

Alarm -> Car -> mounted guns. Security problem solved. grin

yep, to fix that you'll have to replace the rear quarter glass, 149.99 from toyota of goldsboro, they're the cheapest for parts. you'll also need to replace the upper doorsill molding and repaint the part above it. overall i don't think it's gonna be more than 500 bucks. just contact toyota of goldsboro (919) 778-3232 and get them to get the parts. thumbsup

dude, i can get those parts for 149.99 for the rear window, 75.99 for your window molding, then you'll just need to paint the a pillar, but that would be hard to blend on without doing the whole side. just suck it up and pay your deductable, it'll look a whole lot better, and you'll get it blended out where you can't tell it's been painted. thumbsup

Oh man, the exact same thing just happened to me yesterday. They only broke the molding on the back triangle window. For that, they have to replace the entire "sealed window" about $250 in parts, if I remember. I'm living with it for the time being untill I get an idea as to how to fix it myself. I may post a pic.

That's a good price! Do you know I can repair it myself? My piller is actually fine, it looks black because one of my dumb friends put weatherstrip wax to try and seal it... I can rub the black off. tongue

I may take you up on that offer!

Man that's a bummer.

The worst part about the break-in is that the guy obviously doesn't know about our cars very much. the molding (which he pried at and messed up) is not even a part of the door, the glass just presses up against some weather strip, he must've thought the pillar was attached... What a dumbass!

It's like, when I had my Escort, some dude broke into it one night; they PRIED THE LOCK CYLYNDER OUT OF THE DOOR! I couldn't believe it. Haven't these guys ever heard of a coat hangar???

So, in the process of breaking into my car, he had to do about $1500 in body and paint damage to my little Escort, all to steal about $25 worth of utter crap (an old ODBI code scanner, a pair of beat-up Ford Racing harness pads, and a pair of ugly-ass yellow and black R-racing floormats I used when I detailed the car the previous day)

The guy who busted up your ride was some ricer kiddie who, for statrers, knew nothing about cars. Second, If he managed to get into your ride, he would've stolen a bunch of useless crap, the riceier the better.

I concur; if you ever find the dude, put heis teeth to the curb angry

Did you file a police report? If you did, your insurance company should cover the cost of repair. and as long as your deductable is around $500, it will cost you less money to do it through insurance.

Get an estimate from a body shop, if it's less than $500, pay them out of your pocket (it will cost you less).

Since it looks like they scratched up the paint (and probably put some dings there as well) it will probably cost you more than $500. but as I said, after you talk to the insurance company, get an estimate. that is the first step you need to take thumbsup

I got those rear triangle replaced under warranty...

My windows was way too high and each time i closed the doors, it was touching the plastic (were the paint has been remove on mister_tin car)it make move the triangle molding a little.. During my first winter since all was frozen the too side broke like Mister_tin one!

The fucking dealership said it was me with my winterbrooms that broke those parts... fuckers... i got to another dealership and they told me that they allready saw that trouble...

Anyway all that story to tell ya that those triangle part was 111.50SCAN each!

Ha and those triangle come with the whole glasses... so if you have a tint you will lose it like me thumbsdown

the glass is gonna be hella hard to cut out without scratching something, call out a glass company to have it cut out it'll be worth the money and if they scratch the car they'll pay to fix it. thumbsup other than that it's really easy.

uh oh better call maico ... j/k bad joke sorry smile ummm it looks like to me its going to cost more than 500.00 what about repainting and finishing that alone could cost a bunch.. I would say get some quotes from multiple body shops... then go from there. it looks like they will suggest a repair and then finishing and sanding then painting.. you will probably just have to replace the rubber molding and metal piece above the door... If you replace the body part it would cost a ton cause they would have to paint the whole thing instead of the part thats damaged then blending it into the rest of the body color
