you have to figure that my wife bought the car for me while i was deployed for 6 months, i wanted to get it when i came home, but it was already waiting for me, with the system and some other stuff, so i dont know what the stock came with!!!
Fudge The World! Die Hard, Die Fast, Die Strong & Live Life to its Fullest
I have had my car for 2 years (August 14th was its birthday) and never once used the tape deck. When I was looking at the car I made sure the CD player worked though...tape I could care less. Might have critters living in there for all I know.
actually its a good tape deck. Has scan and seek, and will skip songs, you know click it 3 times and it will skip 3 songs. Sound quality decent too. Of course the CD gets lots more use, but I'm older than most of you and I have about 900 cassettes, and only 300 cds, but I'm building it up!

Yah, I had a few hundred. I dumped them in bags & sold them to the pawn shop for a $1 each before tapes disapeared forever. Funny thing is that I own less than 10 CD's. Ever since I bought my burner way back when, I never bought another CD.
I remember when CD's were first coming out. Cassettes were about $12 each. The CD's were supposed to last forever & they were supposed to be cheaper. THEY ARE LIARS!
hehehe, well i never really used it, cause i put in a clarion touch screen dvd player into my dash and never worried about the stock cd and tape before... but i think its really cool just to get a deck like that to come with the car. hehe lol!
ha ha..never udes it for the two weeks it was in my car, but even if it was still stock..finding a tape is like finding a celica w/ a supernintendo hooked up to it.
old people... though the new bmw, has a hook up for ipods... so that the stero can control the ipod and everything...
instead of cassett decks, they should just put an audio in on the front, so i can hook up my mini disk or mp3 player to it... though i just burn cd's and put them in my 10 changer now... the stock stero crapped out on me in october
I'm a little older and much wiser, so I have listened to tapes on the Celica tape deck more times than I can count. I own certain tapes that I will never find anywhere. I have looked to find a more friendly/better media type that includes the songs on my tapes and export CD's and the like. I have found nobody in the world that either has my stuff or is willing to share it. So I listen to those tapes in my Celica when I'm in the "mood". Other than that, I'll pass over the "old string and a can" for a "cellular phone" any day.
