synthetic takes longer to break down...if you use synthetic you can go 5 to 6000 miles between oil changes.

I have the same problem and untill i can manage to get a new motor or have the current one fixed i have learned to combat this problem by getting the oil changed every 1500mi and trying to limit the revs to 3K and no hard acceleration. I havent had to put a quart in for two months

Full synthetic is much better at withstanding high & low temperatures. Its much tougher as well & takes longer for the oil to break down. Is engineered to be superior.

When you distill crude, you take certain temperature ranges for the various products like gasoline, karoseen, motor oil & so on. Normal motor oil is a certain temperature range. You get everything from the beginning to the end of that range.

Sythethic is where they further distill the range of normal motor oil & remove parts of the oil and keep other parts. These combine to make an oil which has the most advantages. This is full sythetic. Note that there is nothing unnatural in it & you can mix it with regular oil without a problem. Sythetic blend is half sythetic & half regular, its has some of the advantages, but not the price.
