I have a question... within this week i seen two celicas one red and one white with hood pins... yet then i relized hey... theres are carbon fiber hoods or fiberglass... why do people put hood pins on stock hoods ? if not done correctly wont the opening of the hood rust ? isit because they want to lock their OEM hood down !?!? confused

Carbon Fiber hoods are light and have a higher possibility opening while driving at high speeds. I guess the stock aluminum hood could do the same thing only there is less of a chance of that happening, but it can happen. Especially if you had a minor front bumper accident previously and it somehow damaged the locking mechanism of the hood.

lol yes they serve a function but are made for Carbon Fiber hoods due their LIGHT WEIGHT...a stock hood is like 50 pounds and does not need that extra crap holding it down for no reason but looks.

i dont think hood pins are useful unless you go off roading or something and that you want to make sure the hood stays on. i dont have a stock hood anymore but it does say that hood pins are only used for off road purposes. besides if the installers do a poor job there goes your hood. o yah i dont advise you to get the hood pins if you have a carbon fiber hood cause the hood could crack during drilling. rice
