How this Shift Light Work? quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by ImportPsycho wth? just Cigarette Lighter and that's it? how does it know the RPM? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In order to know how this shift light works. First, we must know the current activities during different driving situation. In general, after the engine started by the support of the Battery, the only electronic supply will be from our Alternator. Since the alternator produce electronic power when it spinning along with the engine. The faster it spin the more power it will generate. That's another reason when you may have the "engine noise" from your stereo system when you are speeding up your car since the more electronic power it generates and the higher current volts it produced. That's where the tricks of this shift lights used. It keeps on monitoring the change of the current from the Cigarette lighter, (Since it is the most convenience place to get the current information from your car and the most reliable source.). Once it reach on the specific current range generated by the alternator, it's internal resistor will be turn off and the LED light will blink. I hope this information can help you to understand the concept perfectly. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks. [/quote] found this on another forum...what i was wondering was...I have an high power alpine deck and a 12" sub...since this is drawing current won't it affect the accuracy of the shift light? btw street...who is that girl in your sig???
