I've beeen considering getting a CAI. However, there's one problem. I live in CO and I know that a CAI will suck up snow like none other. Somebody told me that getting a short ram instead would help this problem. Is he right?

While we're on topic, does TRD make a Turbocharger? Who makes a decent T/charger for a fair price?

No TRD doesn't make one. At least not for the celica

Go with the Rod Millien short ram Intake. I live in Wisconsin and it works great in the snow times.

Snow isn't going to cause any problem for a CAI, it's rain that will.

Yes, a short ram Intake's location in the engine bay eliminates this possibility.

TRD does not make a Turbocharger for the Celica...they offer a number of Superchargers for their various engine platforms. The 1.8liter 1ZZ TRD Supercharger is designed for Corolla, Matrix, etc but not specifically the Celica. With a few minor modifications, it can be used on a Celica but the power gains per dollar are less than impressive. For more details on this check out TRD USA [trdusa.com]

if you have CAI, people use injen heatshield to block water splash...

to hydrolock your car, the filter needs to be completely underwater. so if thats the case and you actually do hydrolock your car, you're stupid for driving in that much rain. but snow wont affect it...

and if you're looking for a "fair price" on a Turbo..good luck. the Turbo market for the celica is still in the process of establishing its reputation, so things are quite expensive right now. basic Turbo kits run around from 3000-5000 dollars, but tuning and installation will really kill you.

i was at a local import shop (the pit stop) and asked about Intakes and Turbos etc... he said that if you want to Turbo your car the intercooler acts as your Intake so you dont need to get both...but i found that silly..my 3z Turbo had both lol

hrrmmmm...good info. Thanks a bunch. Yeah, Colorado it snows and rains quite a bit. Especially where I'm at. I guess I'll skip the Turbo. My pockets are hurting bad. Textbooks= very very expensive. I'd save up and get a crotch rocket over that Turbo. So maybe just the short ram. Rod Millen short ram, eh? Links?

well this just came to mind, if you had a cai in Co and since its nice n cold down there wouldn't a cai during snowy weather be ideal for sucking in cold air and like ghosting and stephan said sucking actual snow wont be a prob.

^^If it ain't the direct culprit, it sure as hell can't be good sucking up that much snow. Snow is still water at any rate.
