a mechanic, not a dealer said that a k&n filter will coat the maf sensor in oil and cause it to trip a cel. Is this right, I have a rmm Intake and started to happen after i bought the filter. Should I buy another filter that wont cause this. The code reads something to do with the Intake i remember the dealer saying. But they hate mods, specially my Intake. Will I need a new maf sensor?

No, just clean it & the MAF should be fine. I had my K&N filter kill my AIC which would cost about $600 to fix. Its just not worth it.

most aftermarket filters are pre-oiled. i think, yah, as long as you keep your MAF sensor clean it should be aight. lots of people have those K&N filers too.

Never put a your filter in service without oiling it. The filter will not function properly without being oiled. Air Filter Oil is a unique blend of mineral and organic oil base stocks and special polymers that form a very efficient "tack barrier". A filter used on an engine that is regularly operated in a fine dust environment will require frequent re-oiling of the filters clean side in between cleanings. https://celicahobby.com/ubbthreads/thread.f_1869924338_0_collapsed_2__1.html

after you oil the filter, let it set on paper for a couple hours to drain of the exrta oil.

The GTS seems to ve very sensative to the air/fuel mixture, b/c I had this exact same problem for a long time. After removing the K&N filter, cleaning the MAF and resetting the ECU, the car ran BETTER. The oil from the filter can ruin the MAF, so be careful not to over oil it. I think mine was over oiled when I bought it, because it never worked right.

if you oil the filter you have to let it dry before putting it back in, otherwise you'll screw up your MAF
