CAI will almost always be better, just for the simple fact that you dont get as much heat soak.

Yeah and as for the SRI its sitting up around the motor area and the motor gets hot and your SRI will suck in hot air into your engine, and then the CAI sits down by the wheel well and basically cooler air is sucked in by the Air Filter.

Injen makes a short ram. The only benefit I know over a CAI is that it's a lot easier to install. You don't have to worry about hydro lock either I guess, but I'm in Vegas so not real worried about rain. You don't really get much of a hp boost with SRI because, like they have said, you're basically sucking up the same air as your stock Intake does, it's just less restrictive, so you get a little more air. How it works is that the colder the air is, the denser it is, and dense air equals more hp. That's why you get more hp at night, it's cooler outside. The truth about both though, is that by themselves they really won't give you any noticeable gains. I mean, you will get around 5hp with a CAI, maybe more with some CAI's, but you won't be able to feel it. Very few add ons in and of themselves will give you a noticeable difference. Now once you add up a CAI, exhaust, new chip and a few other of the easier to do mods it will. (Actually, I don't know if the chip counts as an easy to do mod.) So if you are looking to drag race (on a legal venue I am sure) then come up with a gradual upgrade plan. Map out the different things you want to get, make sure they are compatible then do them in stages as money permits. With a plan you don't have so much worry about buying stuff that later mods aren't compatible with. It really sucks to spend money on stuff that you end up not using. Anyway, my point that I got away from was that don't expect either the SRI or CAI to give you a noticable power increase.

will i guess i'll be conforming to the injen. you can always go with a SRI and bring the air to it, it's a pain in the ass with the small amount of space in our engine bay so you can't use a pipe bigger then a 2" diameter and then snake it from the front left corner up along side the left head light and it'll come out on top of the SRI. you chould use a drier hose that's what one of my friends did with thier A4, but i'd say go with PVC pipe [/color]

Go with a heat shield they are proven to make a big difference for SRI Intake temp, that with your 2 inch pipe from the fender idea would be a great setup. For a cai heat shield down in the wheel well where not having the Injen logo is not a big deal, then this is a good way to go. $17.99 RTEC(R) Polished Heat Shield Fits on all Air Filters with 2.5" - 4.5" Inlets http://www.2kracing.com/product_info.php/cPath/23/products_id/3494 But for a sri where presentation is important to most, then $51.00 is a good price for Injen heat shield http://www.cardomain.com/item/INJHS5000P

Check out the Rod Millen SRI as well: http://www.rodmillenstore.com/celica/intake.htmThe air Intake was 45 degrees cooler than the heat shield at idle, and at highway speeds there may even be a greater difference

TPR makes a CAI thats convertable to SRI very easily
TPR Intake! - Injens high end with AEM's low end and NO BOGGING! TPR EXHAUST! - Exhaust made 10.5 whp peak and 32 whp at 6300 on my car!!!

Good choice. What a difference here on the CAI vs. SR. Before it was short ram because of hydrolock on a CAI and the HP gains are the same theory. I'm glad that crap ended. CAI is the only way to go for an inatake whether AEM, Injen, or TPR period - amongst periods.

For Drag Racing.. you would want to get a CAI.. the Short Ram have a few avantages over the CAI.. for Example cleaning the air filter, and thats about it.. LOL... CAI is better than Short Rams.. But for a Drag Race, I would have to go with Injen... Why??? because Injen gives you a boost at High RPMs, because everytime you change gears, you are always left in high RPMs.. AEM is better when it comes in cornering, you get the boost at low RPMs, so your acceleration is pretty good..

An Intake that gives you AEM low end and Injen high end? Its fairly simple
