this situation i'm in is ridiculous and even embarassing, btu here goes...
i'm almost 22, but in order to keep the rate more affordable, i'm still on my parents insurance plan. on my last car, a 2000 mustang, i had 15% tint and it looked awesome. i should add that it too was black. now my dad is saying that i can't tint my car darker than 35% because it is illegal. his reasonsin is that if i have a wreck and hurt someone, they will take me to court and blame my dark tint and try to take millions from me in damages. and since i don't have much, bein only 21 and a college student, he says they will take his home, car, etc... everything he has. its a joke, especially considering he found the guy to tint my stang through another guy he works with for me. and he drives a 98 camry with illegal tint, but it was that way when he bought it.
to me, it would be so sexy to have dark tint on my black celica, and i don't know if i'd even be satisfied with 35%. i've been waitin it out hoping he'll budge but i've been waiting for months with no luck. should i just go ahead and get legal tint? i mean its better than nothing. and i won't have to worry about ever being hassled by cops. they're not strict on that around here at all though anyway.
does anyone have pics of 35% tint on their car?

i should say the reason i don't just do it anyway is because he says he will cancel me off of his insurance if i get illegal tint. i've checked rates to have it on my own name and its so much higher, even though my driving record is pretty good.

...the answer is obvious isnt it?! ive seen many questions on internet with the original post people already have the answer in their mind.
get the 35% or wait till ur insurence is low enough that you willing to pay ur own insurence then tint the window.

rookie...me you and spaztikid live in Cali, though you brave it with the illegal tint...its hardcore with pigs.
i say, 20-25% get it from a shop that specializes in tinting.

hey Swift, your car is already black, perhaps the 35% well give the impression over being a darker tint thn it really is.

just get the %35 it will still look better than stock, and it's a whole lot better than getting kicked out onto your own insurance.
that pretty much turns a $120 tint job into a $1000+ tint job.

tint is not worth getting kicked off the insurance for... you pay your own bills..ok cool..but pay to be on your own insurance when you dont have to would be dumb..especially @ 21...if its the only thing your dad is trying to throw on you..then do it..25% is better than nothing

I recommend limo tint for the rear 3 windows and 35% tint for the front. And when your insurance lowers darken it.

Here's 35% tint on my sides & wedges. It's pretty dark. You can still see out too. ![[Linked Image from memimage.cardomain.net]](http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/9/web/405000-405999/405708_22_full.jpg) ![[Linked Image from memimage.cardomain.net]](http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/9/web/405000-405999/405708_19_full.jpg)

I say just go with what your dads says. Then once you can afford it by yourself get them darker.
Even though im not sure how many people have actually been sued due to the fact that there windows were to dark. I wouldnt even think someone would notice that if they were in a accident with someone else... but i guess you never know. Good luck with your decision.

does anyone have pics of 35% tint on their car? If you insurance is worth half a damn, it will cover accident charges and lawsuits. Saying that an accident was caused because your tint is too dark is a long shot. If it's too dark for you to see out of, then it's too dark to be on the car. Unless all of your windows were totally opaque or so dark that it obviously was imparing your ability to see the road, I don't think that "his tint is too dark, that's why he crashed" fling would stand up in court.

just get the 35%, when you graduate and can afford your own insurance and support yourself, do things your way, till then...take advantage of any benefits you can take.
