I have a 2003 Celica GTS. I just bought it certified used about 2 months ago. I was playing with the fader on it, and noticed the back speakers are extremely weak, and there is no bass or mid to them. They don't sound blown, they are just very very weak compared to the front. The front speakers seem to be operating fine. Any suggestions on where to start? Also, where is the amp located on the 03 GTS and are there crossovers on each door for the component speakers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think the amp is behind the glove compartment. You need to remove it to access the amp. The speakers dont have crossovers in the doors only the tweeter has a capacitor wired to it.

^^ what he said. when I yanked out my amp it was up above and behind the glove box. there were no x overs cause it's all done internally through the amp. (far as I could tell)

I love my GT's stock speakers, they are good quality & there is no need to get rid of them. Highpass them at 200HZ & they will run a clean 30WRMS per speaker. I am running them at about 65% because they get too loud.

30W RMS??? eh...that's kinda weak... Not when its crossed over, bass takes power, mid & trebble require very little power. Im running about 120WRMS (30x4) and it gets loud enough to leave your ears ringing afterwords. But of course you must cover the bass end with an amp & some good subs.

do I need to run the mid/high and front driver in series or parallel(sp?)? and I also read somehwere that I need to bypass the high crossover(capacitor) in order to keep all my front speakers from sounding tinny if I do them in series. what are the ohm ratings on the speakers?
