ever since i got my gts (a year and a few months ago) ive always filled my tank with chevron supreme fuel, you know with that techron stuff, anyways ive never put in any other brand of fuel, i was wondering what you guys use and what is the best brand to use, like Shell just came out with their new type of fuel, or if there is any difference or harm/performance in other brand...
sorry if this is a repost

I dunno??? My car has 82K on it and I have pretty much used Diamond Shamrock the whole time and she still runs good. Every now and then I put this Seam Foam stuff in it and that cleans it out and makes it run really smooth for a while.

most gases are pretty much the same. not much difference between mobil premium and texico or irving or anything. the only reason the gases prices are lower at some stations is because of the competition of these wealthy guys to get their gas there at that station
it's kinda complicated the owner of the mobil i worked at tried to explain it to me

I use whatevers available. I buy the Premium gas. Tony, I tried the V-Power gas from Shell. I like it, but then again, its just like any other premium gas, except it has "enhanced stuff" that cleans your fuel injectors. No harm, give it a try.

I usually go to Mobil all the time, but for the past month during our tax break on gas I've been going to citco b/c its over .10 cents cheaper than anywhere else. They have been okay, but as soon as the prices rise again I'm going back to Mobil. The only place I've really noticed a difference is Hess, my car seems to burn their gas a lot more quickly...and no my driving habits don't change. Their gas doesn't even last a week in my car...weird.

even though my Celica is just a GT i use Chevron Supreme and Sheel V-Power. i dont think that it is necessary to use supreme (ECU not tuned for it). I think that if anything it will hurt your car.

oh, BTW i used to use Shell's Premium/now V-Power and switched to Techron 91. i felt a difference. my car flows better with Chev's Techron. plus, unlike Shell, Chevron adds Techron into all three octanes.

There really is no difference though i am not sure and correct me if i am wrong (wich i am sure i will be ) but by putting high octane in a car that does not need it i think it will of can clog the cat foul plugs and stuff doue to the ECU not being tuned for that octane

^^ Yeah, the Germans got the good stuff putting 91 into a GT won't hurt it, in fact, many people report the car running better. You can't measure it on a dyno, but the car just feels different. Technically it won't make a difference, but in practice (in our cars at least) it does. I've heard you can put pretty much any octane above what you're required, as long as the ignition system is strong enough to ignite it (higher octane means it is less likely to combust). The reason the GTS needs 91 is because the high compression ratio increases the chance of early detonation, requiring a gas that is less likely to combust. correct me if i'm wrong.

i have a theory: i have always used Chevron Supreme 91 w/Techron and have now recently on some occassions tried Shell V Power. i have realized something.. that when i use chevron i get a smoother ride but when i use shell i can feel a bit of performance increase like in lift but not as smooth ride. at first i wondered why, but then i figured our GTS ecu's are tunned for 91 octane fuel but not with any cleaning additives like techron or v-power. so if you think about it... lets ASSUME fuel thats goin into the engine is 90% 91 octane gas but 10% is like the cleanin formula.. i'm guessin that our ECUs are assuming that the fuel going in is 100% of 91 octane gas. Do you notice the problem? well i've asked around and they tell me chevron places more cleaning formula then shell does, so i'm assuming that is why i'm gettin more performance... this goes on, but just a theory of my own by the way this can just all be bullshit.. don't take my word for it.. opinions?

Wow, this gas talk has been going on for some time now. No disrespect, but most gas is the same except the octane. The Techron, Vtron, Hexagon additives are a marketing scheme. I hear the same stuff over and over every so often from the different gas companies/chains from year to year. I don't even listen anymore to that after 14 years of driving. I just stear clear of those budget gas stations that pop up from time to time and change their name from year to year. All gas we use includes cleaning agents. I personally run 100 octane Sunoco, from the pump, because I can and will.

^^^100?? damn..isn't that like 3buck some a gal??? talk about crazyness..gosh i could never do that..prob. 1 a yr maybe..hehehe I don't want to go into what gas for what model. This has been said too many times and not what the topic at hand is about. I PERSONALLY go for 100 octane because I don't drive 10,000 miles a year, 15,000 miles, 20,000, or more. I like it, can get it, and can afford it. If it was Sunoco, Shell, Texaco, Mobil, etc. I wouldn't care either. It cost about $4.30 a gallon.
