hey guys planning to buy a gts in the next week, and i've narrowed it to 2 cars.

$13000- 2000 GTS 66000 miles
$15000- 2002 GTS 19200 miles

I've been reading that the rev limiter has been changes to 7800rpms for the 02 gts, so you can't stay in lift as long as the 00-01,03+ models 8300rpms (sorry if i'm wrong i'm going off what i read}. To be honest I wont be trying to race this car (only if there's a jerk that needs to be put in place),but I will probably doing the normal i/h/e and suspension mods, but nothing serious. Going to college and need the money.

Is the 02 gts' a lot slower than the 00-01,03+ gts'?
Is it better to just get the 00?

The only reason i would prefer the 02 is because i'll stay under factor warranty longer and it only has one previous owner.

HELP!!!!!

Get the 02 its only 2 grand more and you get a car with a lot less miles and its basically exactly the same, and if you care about that rev limiter there are a few things you could do you could buy a 00-01 ecu or buy the power fc and that will correct the rev limiter which is really no big deal and shouldn't hurt the decision of which car to buy

if you can buy a car under warranty especially if its used over a car with no warranty then you should jump on it

just find a wrecked junk yard and steal it thumbsup

if you try to buy it from toyota they'll rape you in the ass

and the power fc is over 1000 dollars because you have to buy all the suporting hardwear

and since ur a college student and i know that books cost a shit load ur best bet is to get and ecu from a junck yard thumbsup

well they are like a half second slower considering you can't land lift 1-2 shift, but you said you didn't care about racing so who cares its still faster than most things

^^^^yup.

plus the only reason why the 02 GTS would be slower is becuase of the rev limiter. other than that, its all gravy thumbsup

02, I have a 2000 GTS but mine only got 45000 miles , plu slike you said if you really wont be racing go with that. Even with the rev limiter at 7800 it will still be fast. I used to race mine and only go until until 7800 for a while until i found out it could go to 8200. I will only make a difference on the track really. On the street it will be quick enough

7800 rev limiter you can land lift on the 1-2 shift?
the 8300 just makes it a lot easier to do so

as far as the ecu swap, if you can find it in a junk yard your gonna need the knock sensor also, and your gonna have to get that from the dealer, unless you wanna spend several hours tearing apart the junked cars' motor. it costs like $150 from the dealer, and it's not an easy process to install.
by the way, a new ecu from the dealership is like $1200.
power fc would be the way to go, cheaper than a new ecu and you dont have to swap knock sensor.
