I have had my AEM Intake in my car for 4 days. Yesterday the CEL light came on. I was worried i installed it wrong.
So today after filling up my tank of gas. the CEL goes away. The next thing i know when i turned the key to start the car, the car hicks up for a quick half sec. At that point i said wtf?? but didnt mind it so i pull out of the gas station. On the very next light i notice when braking almost to a complete stop, near 1k in the rev meter. my car sounds like it wanted to stall out on me. It started shaking a lil so i gave it a little gas it so it wouldnt stall.
While driving I had to keep the rev meter above 1k. anything below i thought it woulda stalled out. but anyways so after gettin home. i arked the cark and let teh engine ran. nothing happened. it didnt stall out or anything.
is this some kind of "after effect" after installing an AEM AEM? has anyone on this board encounter this problem?
After i got home i think it stopped. Cuz i parked my car and put it into drive and i held he brake. and nothing happend. So Ima go for a cruise around my niegborhood for a good 5 minutes to see if it stops. Most likey it did
having in it drive and stepping on the gas wont recreate the effect of when you are comming to a stop / or having to brake hard...Sometimes this happens when hot air gets up in the Intake aswell and that will happen alot... Did you reset your ECU after installing your CAI ?

My AEM cai was installed perfectly by my cousin who is a mechanic and when it is very very hot out when I come to stop lights the car shakes a little. Was it really hot out?
BETWEEN WHO YOU ARE AND WHO YOU COULD BE BETWEEN HOW IT IS AND HOW IT SHOULD BE
Yeah bro, is normal to have a black cable out, and yes if you take out the negative cable of your baterry for lets say 10 minutes and then put the cable back on, that counts as reseting the ecu.
Yeah i just installed my Injen CAI as well, and i installed it this past saturday and have had no problems. And yes its fine that you have a black cable thingie thats not plugged in because you dont use that one. FYI that 1 black cable hook-up was connected to your stock air box on the bottom.
i just got home from driving my gf home from her job. front center city to northeast philly. My freakin CEL came on again. My CEL went off today after i filled the tank of gas now is back on. what in the world is causing this?
your vacuum lines might be crossed. double check them...if they are wrong then it will cause the car to sputter and die or come close to dieing, it will also sometimes throw the light and sometimes it won't, and the sputtering will also go away more often than not. so double check your lines. there will also be one line that was capped off on teh Intake manifold and one dead plug.
this happened to me a while back check the cables you've plugged on the Intake 2 black and 1 blue the blue should NOT be plugged... no more cel and nore more stalling after fill up in gas

i filled my tank up once and CEL went away for about 5 hours? but now its back. im sort of confused, i thought that the blue connector plugs into something, not the black?? are you teling me i should switch them around?

Yes thats correct, i would say switch it coz one of the toyota mechanics did it for me and there was no CEL. I can check again today when i get off work, but i am pretty sure thats it, the install for AEM has it mixed up.
the ecu just probably had to get used to the new Intake. I know that everytime i reset my ECU i can feel that the car loses power. After a little while the ECU gets used to the new part and you will be fine. Thats why it says in the instructions to drive for a half hour after installing it, going through all of the RPM band. I think you should be fine

i think i fixed the prob. special thanks to charles and iv_boy. i had to switch the blue connector with the black one hanging. after that i reseted the ecu. i drove down yown n back at like 80mph. everything is all good (knock on wood) also wouuld like 2 thanks everyone else for helping as well.
oh yeah i also made a custome splash guard that goes behind the plastics in front of the wheel. i'll have pics of that tommmorow along with my Intake and maybe some pics of my caliper if i finish painting them
