Ya im a "newb" to this site but i have to ask a question. Where do you people get money for all these mods? Just a kit + lowering + rims + labor for what i want is looking around 5k. Not to mention thats not even including interior work and stereo setup and engine mods. Just seems like people have have a lot of money to throw around.

I work full time and go to school full time, so I have an extra couple hundred to blow on my car every month.

I never buy stuff in bulk, but rather pool the money from month to month, and just buy stuff every now and then.

A year after I bought my car, I have an Intake, exhaust, rims, lowering springs, TRD spoiler, and I'm still looking to buy a kit, but in pieces.

Other people that may be older probably have started their high paying jobs and use the money from that.

I like buying stuff in pieces because it makes your car a lot more fun to drive and look at when you put something new on.

If I just bought everything at one time, I would get bored of it after a while, and have nothing else to put on. I also have other "free" mods that I did, like LED conversions, painting the brake calipers, and plastics inside of the car.

Yeah, especially college. But I have an office job so I can get all of my work done, and still have hours left for homework and surfing this site and the internet. wink

yeah i got a very decent paying job that allows me to pay monthly+gas+maintenance+insurances on car and still have enough to buy mods.
i buy mostly second hand monds that are practically brand new tho
just scour the web for deals and classified adds

i just got me some toyo tires which i'm supposed to pickup this weekend as well as trd springs

I'm a bit older, married, kids etc. I'm a tradesman and my wife is a teacher so we do alright moneywise. It's more of a hobby. Just buy things here & there if the price is right.

Work. A lot. Then make sure you never leave your home when you're not working. 'Cause going out and spending money on stuff that's not for your car is a big NO-NO. Get yourself a playstation 2, x-box, and internet. Eat soup, frozen pizza's, and cheap stuff like that.

DO NOT go out on weekends to get drunk. You might end up with a girlfriend -- and that's too expencive.

When you feel like you're going slightly insane, go out and get a big bottle of vodka. And get shit faced. That'll straighten you out for a while.

And when summer comes...Cruise around in your phat ride, checking out the jail bait checking out your car. Sorted.

yeah...I'm arguing that one too...my girlfriend has precedent over the celica...but I know that's a button she would never push...she lets me do what I want with my car...and even helps me with mods sometimes...Its not tht the car comes first...its more like...its my car not yours..I'll do what I want with it

I'm 16 and i work at local grocery store. In the summer i work about 40 hours a week. I use the cash to pay fo rmy car every month ($220) plus gas, my mom pays my insurance. I then save up the rest of my cash and buy big stuff for my car. I've had my car since april and now have a Full Kaminari Body kit, TRD wing, c-one hood scoop, and some other little things. Just save up your cash to buy a couple big purchases instead of a whole bunch of crappy little ones

Wait, you've spent how much on mods? Exactly. rolleyes

Get a job! Save money. Cut corners. I pack lunch instead of buying. I get scholarships so I don't have to pay for books. I go to school full time and work part time.

Don't get a gf! They clear your wallet and the take up a lot of time. Only slightly kidding. She usually calls when i'm installing something, so don't think I haven't heard her complain about spending time. ohboy

get a job that allows overtime and crank it out once a month working seven days for sixteen hours...

that'll grab any parts you need in a hurry, just devote one week per month to work for your car expense. if your car budget dictates higher earnings to supplement your expenses then just work more hours...

I save and save and save, don't do the Club thingy to often, that will cost you a cool $100 a night easily. I own my own biz and working hard at it now for 9 years.

Have clients all over the USA and they are good to me. But I work really hard and put long hours in for what I get and with the home and everything else, I wonder sometimes how I do it.

Just a few years ago I was in College and paying rent and wondering how I would pay for the electric bill, I have come a long way and very grateful I can do what I do.

Time is the key and shop until you drop. Shopped for all but a year just to get my car lol, now three days old.

Almost have a 1000 miles on her already, man I love this car. thumbsup
