Well I'm selling the 00'GTS and downgrading to a 96' Miata.
I want a cheaper car that I can own outright after I plunk down 6k or so. I intend on modifying this car a lot more than I did my celica. Intake and exhaust, raising the compression ratio new fuel pump and injectors. Maybe even a full rebuild on the engine. This may be time consuming and expensive but with a engine that only puts out like 120hp to the wheels and has about 90,000 miles. It may be the only way to drive it hard for a year or two. And with the money I save on payments and insurance it will be easier to buy parts for the roadster. Also I can do many cheap mods to this car like weight reduction. heres a story for ya,... was out at the street races and a friend of mine got a miata recently and drove it out, now he wasnt racing but rather watching... so this cop busts arround the corner to scatter us so well all go down to the 7-11 and park and wait for the cops to scatter, well one comes to the 7-11 to give us a "speach" there was too many of us for him to do anything about without gettin his ass kicked so he just talked and then right before he left he looked over at my friends miata and started laughing...he was like " WTF is a miata doing here?, HAHAHA..."

what?! Miatas are great cars, known for their handling. they're light weight and rear wheel Drive. I know of a lot of people that look down on the celica too, so lets not be ignorant like the rest of the world.

sorry kim i'd have to disagree, ive seen more rainbow stickers on miata's than any other car, and the fact that there is zero body styling

Yes I do agree that Miatas are Kinda gay. But have you ever heard someone call a celica a girls car. Not that there is anything wrong with that. But it is true, 60% of initial celica purchases are by women. If I could own a skyline I wouldnt feel the need to flame on the people on this website because my car was $90,000 and ultra dope. Fact is the miata has a rep of being a midlife crisis car, but when I have put some time and money into it. It will have a better power to weight ratio than a celica. looks aren't everything. That was my celica all show and not a lot of go.

no body styling... umm dont get me wrong but the miata is not a bad car at all.. I would deff not take it over my celi but there are MUCH MOR GAYER cars out there than the miata...

Everyone flames guys that drive miatas here too. But if its the only thing you can afford then go for it. Prove people wrong that its not just a 'girls' car.

have you played NFS:underground? if you get the Miata, get a wide body kit just like that one in the game (not the mantis kit, the other one) my NSF:U Miata is the dopest looking in my car garage.

Miatas can make an awesome little car engine and appearance wise.

although its a big down grade(one of which i would have never done) but you people need to STFU. they are way gayer cars out there then a miata. god some people are stupid

Although the Miata (or MX-5 as it's known over here in England!) definitely has a reputation as a hairdresser's car, you can't deny the handling and feel.. the press over here rave over them as the best "British Sportscar" you can buy today, even though they are Japanese!!

You could always go for the "Mini Viper" look

for those that say its a chick car...the celica is also considered a chick car by many...

I agree the miata is not a down grade! it will out handle the celica and also there are way more mods for it then the celica. Can you say 2 rotor engine or the new nemesis motor from mazda, in a miata that still keeps its handling its a total sleeper. and also you can super charge those things too. so what if it makes about 180 with the super charger the light wieght body will have you kicking GTS celicas ass left and right and youll be lauching in the face of VTec boys.

And for the guys that are insecure about there man hood. the miata is not a gay car ... Jettas are and also the celica is considered a girls car in publics eyes. just something to think about.

so if i was you go for it get the miata lay off on the body kits and boost that motor or swap it out. youll be whooping on faster imports in no time.

i read on a magazine somewhere that the new miata with Turbocharge but out like 205hp or something like that..

that prototype pic did have a kit on it for styling, but a 96 looks much plainer

fuck it dude, its your decision, and i'd bet ya it wouldnt take much mods to waste a celica. i wouldnt get one but thats just me.

Go for it man. I loved my 94 Miata. Honestly, they are much more fun than our cars. Not as refined or comfortable, but the handling and car/driver feedback is sick. So much aftermarket and potential too

why not get a 2nd gen MR2?... those are cheap now... and insurance wont be that expensive...

Miata's aren't really gay.. not when there are cars like the Diahatsu Copen around..

The thing is, if you sit a guy in virtually ANY open top car and they immediately look a little gay. Think about it..

i for get the magazine but i had the top ten gayest cars (that make you look gay) and the miata was very very high on the list but hey what ever floats your boat
