Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior engine swap

I read somewhere in this forum about an engine called 3S-GTE you can swap for the celica. What is so good about this engine, where can you obtain it, how much does it cost and can you fit it in both the GT and GTS?

what is so good about this engine? well lets see turbocharged 2.0 4 cylinder that was on the old MR2 and GT-4 celica. i should have around 250 hp. engine kicks ass. there was one 7th gen celica with this swap but the price is too steep. i think 8 or 9G. might as well get the XS turbo kit or eiptuning kit. a couple of 6th gen celica had gotten the swap in u.s.. only jdm 6th gen celica comes with it.

Does anyone have any recomendations as to what engine i should buy if i was to get one? street legal in CA ofcourse. oh, do you have to take out the CAI to put in a turbo and does the CAI replace the air filter system your car originally comes with?

If you turbo charge the celica, specifically a GT, how many years will the engine last before it starts giving you trouble or even break down?
