ok i bought the car in april and it came with an alarm but it never worked right so i just pulled the wires one day. since that day, the lock button wouldn't work. like you could unlock the doors with the switch but not lock. well today i finally had an alarm installed, and the keyless entry will lock and unlock, but the power switch on the inside still won't lock the doors. its like its dead. it doesn't even make the clicking sound like its trying. i know the locks are good because like i said, they will lock and unlock with the remote. the guy said i may just have a dead switch, like there's an actuator (sp?) in it. anybody know if this is right? and if so, is all i need a new switch? thanks in advance to anyone with info.

I'm not sure I can help much, but here's my input. The 'actuator' that you're referring to in the switch is a 'relay'; and it does make a quiet clicking sound when it's energized. Since the unlock portion of your switch works fine; it could be possible that the lock relay is bad. You cannot replace the relay (unless you're into tricky soldering). The unit for the locks and door windows is a complete assembly. I have an extra assembly (used) if you need it. I bought it when I had a power window problem (wasn't the switch).

The other option to consider is whether you left a circuit open somewhere when you pulled the wires for the alarm system. You didn't describe what you had; or how intensive it was to pull the wires for it. It might be difficult to trace; but it's a possibility.

Ok...basically i cant remember what kind of wire system the celicas locks are. But either you have a bad relay as above said or the alarm calls for the lock wires to be cut and thats why ur locks arent working because ur alarm is blocking it out. My advice is take it somewhere and have it looked at...cause if you dont know what ur doin. I HIGHLY advise you dont touch it grin thumbsup
