Well, it has been happening for two days in a row now. Before they would only squeek when its realy cold and when raining. I haven't checked them, but it sounds like they might need replacing. Its embarrasing driving like that. It goes away when its warm. DAmn, I have no money. But Oh well, if they need replacing, they need replacing.

Belt dressing - clean it up first & see if that fixes it. Sometimes road tar or oil gets on it.
The belt tensioners are a problem also, almost everyone has theirs replaced eventually, sometimes twice.

Well, I got the tensioner replaced when I bought the car at 40K miles. I took it in about 6-7 months because it did the same thing and they said it was not the tensioner. It was something else, and that is was not covered under warranty and I would have to pay lke $300-$400. So I said, no way, I'll just let it ride like that. The sound went away, and now it came back. But this time I have no more warranty, it expired. I am going to take my car in for an oil change next week and ask them to check my belts, tensioner, or whatever it is. If they say it is the tensioner, then I will tell them that they already replaced it and that even though my warranty expired, and that its is not my fault that it went bad after they replace it.

I have 75k miles...belt tensioner never been a problem. HOWEVER I had the belt squeeling exactly as you describe..so I went to Autozone, got a GATORBACK belt ($22) and put it on, problem solved.

The Tensioner is covered under extended warranty, the Belt is not. I had to pay for the Belt and the Tensioner was replaced for free. I got that Serpentine crap now.

I know how embarrassing it is to drive around sqealing like a pig. Everybody looks at your car, bla! I tryed to quick fix my serpentine belt by using a bar a soap on it, but it just made things worse. It worked for like 5 miles then started back up again, this time louder! I quickly replaced my belt and it seems to be running much more quiet. What a stress reliever!
